Simonsig, a prominent entry for the Betfred Novices’ Chase
With the part and parcel package of wins, defeats, injuries and even fatalities, the ace trainers, Paul Nicholls and Nicky Henderson, of the National Hunt season are persevering with the future lucrative options. For the Betfred Novices’ Chase at Ascot, trainer, Nicky Henderson has entered Simonsig and Paul Nicholls has secured his chances with Poungach.
Another highlight entry for the race is the eight-year-old bay gelding, Overturn.
The Nicky Henderson trained, Simonsig, has been unbeaten in the last three outings and is now a set favourite for the Arkle in March. The race at Ascot will be the first time that the R. A. Bartlett owned will race over jumps, because the already favourite for the Arkle is famous for his form in the novice hurdles last season.
The amazing form of the gelding who is yet to make a debut at the jumps in public has made the event more competitive. He closed the session with success in the Grade 2 John Smith’s Mersey Novices’ Hurdle on 14th April, 2012 at Aintree race course over two miles and four furlongs.
He defeated the Donald McCain’s trained, Super Duty, by fifteen lengths.
The runner-up’s trainer’s entry for the Ascot, the eight-year-old Irish bay gelding, Overturn, has won the Bet On Today’s Football @ Bluesq.com Beginner’s Chase on 10th November, 2012 at Sandown race course over two miles.
The favourite entry paired up with jockey, Jason Maguire, won from Thanks For Coming, by good fourteen lengths.
Two out of these three prospects, Simonsig and Overturn, have also got entries in the Blue Square Bet Novices’ Chase at Haydock on Saturday.
Trainer, Paul Nicholls, really needs to work for participation and securing of chances in the upcoming races. He stayed down low when losing the Hennessy Gold Cup and the Tingle Creek.
Even when he did win the StanJames.com International Hurdle with Zarkandar, he lost the other entry, Cristal Bonus, due to a fatal injury. His target for the spectacle of the season, the King George VI Chase, Al Ferof, was withdrawn from the line-up due to an injury. The champion trainer has his expectations associated with, Kauto Stone now.
Competing alongside will be, Dare Me, Act Of Kalanisi, Cantlow and Well Regarded.
