Simonsig gets the best odds for Neptune Investment Management Novices´ Hurdle
Nicky Henderson’s trainee, Simonsig, has been given the best odds for winning the Neptune Investment Management Novices´ Hurdle (Registered As Baring Bingham Novices´ Hurdle) Grade 1 at Cheltenham in England on Wednesday, March 14, 2012. The triumphant runner
will walk away with a cash prize of £56,950.
The going will be good in the 2 mile 5 furlong race, which will start at 2:05 GMT, and the entries confirmed for it are: Simonsig, Monksland, Sous Les Cieux, Make Your Mark, Batonnier, Cotton Mill, Felix Yonger, Benefficient, Nelson's Bridge, Close House,
Secret Edge, The Tracey Shuffle, Nagpur, Double Ross, Natural High, Fiulin, Sunny Ledgend, Brass Tax and Baldadash.
Simonsig has got a terrific record over hurdles, thus he is likely to prevail in the event. He has been performing extremely well over the past few months, which indicates that he will give a tough time to the rest of the participants today.
The six-year-old gelding has won a couple of races over hurdles, out of three attempts. There was only one occasion, where he failed to win, but still managed to secure the runner up position that time around.
In his most recent race, Simonsig was rated favourite and he lived up to the expectations of everyone, winning comfortably by more than a couple of lengths. No one else was able to challenge him throughout the race.
The punters will be expecting a similar show from the promising runner and will be placing a lot of bets in favour of his victory. Barry Geraghty will be the jockey of today’s favourite. The veteran rider has won 129 hurdles in his career and has a superb
strike rate.
Although things look quite easy for Simonsig at the moment, he will be challenged by Monksland, who has also been in the spot light since making debut in the sport.
The five-year-old gelding has entered a couple of hurdles, winning both of them. He has the confidence and momentum to challenge the best in the business.
Noel Meade’s trained runner will be partnered by P. Carberry, who has earned 25 victories over hurdles. The young jockey has the potential of becoming one of the best in the world, as he has got an impressive strike rate.
Sous Les Cieux, Make Your Mark, Batonnier, Cotton Mill and Felix Yonger are also decent runners and will cause a few problems for the top two favourites of the race.
