Ok my Bedroom is pure white and I want some color but my mom said I can't do any crazy colors like bright red, blue.green etc. They have too be lighter colors. I like abstract lines and vector. I'm a guy, and open to any ideas thanks.

  1. Okay, so Mom is thinking about when you leave and what will be left behind for her to fix. You could always promise to repaint it white before you go. If that doesn't work, try putting some life into your room with things that can leave with you, like curtains and bedding and posters. The  pastel walls can be the backdrop for them. Try industrial taupe. It'll go with her choices for the guest bedroom decor after you're gone.

  2. a good colour that would be very neutral and very flexible would be taupe (think a really NICE beige).

You would be open to a number of colour schemes with a taupe background.  Green and Brown, black and grey, yellow and Blue, Everything goes with taupe.

Take into consideration the colour of the furniture in the room.  Take a picture of your room now and go to the paint store and grab a bunch of paint chips.  Then go home and take a look at the paint chips while you are in your room.  Which ones appeal to you?

A good way to chose a colour for your bedding would be to look at that same paint chip and go way down (or up) the chip and chose the darkest (or lightest) colour on the paint chip.  You don't need to go too extreme if you don't want to.  Take the paint chip with you when you go look for linens for your bed and any access pieces.  Don't try to match the colour.  Find something that stands out a bit against the taupe.

    Have fun with it!

  3. play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

Check out a color called "quietude" (# 6212). It's a light blue & I think it would be a terrific color for your bedroom.

You can also take a photo of your room & upload it to the makeover gallery on Roomvues dot com:

You can get color suggestions & they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.
