  1. Find [s(1+h) - s(1)] / (1+h -1)

Take it one at a time.

    s(1+h) = 2/3(1+h)^3 = 2/3(1 +3h + 3h^2 +h^3)

    = 2/3 + 2h + 2h^2 + 2/3h^3

    s(1) = 2/3(1)^3 = 2/3

    1+h - 1 = h

    Then we have

    (2/3 + 2h + 2h^2 + 2/3h^3 - 2/3) / h

    = (2h + 2h^2 + 2/3h^3)/h

    = 2 + 2h + 2/3h^2
