It supposedly does both, but it also depends on the brand. And of course it still works, doesn't matter the age.

Retinol, in all anti aging products, is supposed to peel dead layers of skin and moisturizers and elasticity ingredients do the rest. Yes, I believe it's okay to use even if you're younger........ As a matter of fact, I found that anti aging products are also good for acne prone skin.

The answer is a sort of number one prevent wrinkles from even starting by using a good skin care product when you are young. Two wear sunscreen, I use one in my day moisturizer and in my foundation. Three don't tan its the skins worst enemy. Fourth you don't have to spend a ton of money, lancome,estee lauder etc...I have used Avon, and oil of olay for year and years. Fifth products : use a gentle cleanser , a day moisturizer with spf 5-10, and a hydrating night moisturizer. Six give it time usually 4-6 weeks you will have a small amount of breakouts( very normal) what the product is doing is cleaning out your pours.

I have been using this resume since I was 18 and I am now 40 and have no wrinkles and a great complexion. I hope I have helped you out

Anti-wrinkle creams could help reduce the appearance of aging. Generally, these creams are not permanent wrinkle removers, but either help remove the dead outer layer of skin or hydrate the skin and plump it up, giving the appearance of removing wrinkles. Some results can be seen after about 30 days. But, once you stop using the product, the wrinkles return, so ongoing product use can become expensive depending on which cream you buy.  

The best anti-wrinkle creams so far are the ones that contain Products with Vitamins C & E:  Products with AHA (alpha hydroxy acid).  But the most important way to prevent aging skin is to protect it with sunscreen that blocks both UVA and UVB rays and has an SPF of 15 or higher.

And of course you can use it right away.
