Question:

Simple dinner to make for parents tomorrow?

A week ago my sister, brother and I decided to make dinner for my parents and the dinner is tomorrow and lately we’ve been busy and didn’t figure out what to make for our parents. my sister is 12, my brother’s 8 and I’m a couple years older than my sister. What simple dinner can we make that doesn’t require special ingredients and stuff we can find in our kitchen. My parents aren’t allergic to anything and I want to surprise them with something nice. Any creative ideas and recipes??? Thanks

  1. It's hard to give you ideas without knowing what you have in the house.

Fancy sandwiches - any kind of sandwich meat or spread like chicken salad, etc. or peanut butter and jelly.  Cut the crust off and cut into halves or fouths.  Stick a toothpick in each with a small piece of pickle or piece of fruit.  Arrange them on a tray or large plate.

Presentation is key - What ever you fix just make it pretty.

Bean dip - Can of pinto beans, Jar of salsa, cook the beans until very soft.  Mash the beans then remove from heat and stir in the salsa.  Put in a pretty or bright colored bowl.  Serve with Tortilla chips.

Serve 7up or sprite in pretty glasses, glasses with stems like wine glasses, tea glasses, etc.

Fudge - Chocolate drops, 1 Cup peanut butter, melt in micorwave, stir, pour into a small square pan, cool, cut into squares.

Rice krispies treats (cocoa pebbles for a chance)  Melt marshmallows and butter, stir in cereal, pour into large retangle pan, cool, cut into squares.

Queideas - Soft tortilla shells, cheese, sandwich meat or other cooked meat(optional).  Place a piece of cheese (and meat, if using) fold in half, heat in a non stick skillet.  Flip and heat on the other side until the cheese is melted.  cut into haves the half again.  they will look like triangles.

    Take bonesless, skinless chicken b*****s,

  5. well lets see, why dont you have your own little food to make for your parents? by tht i mean your sister makes something like chopped salad with any kind of salad dressing. you make some pasta if you dont no how just boil it in hot water be careful tho and wen its softens maybe after 20 mins take them out and drain it and use pasta sause 1 dollar aat grocery stores and u and ur brother can make shrimp just read the labels and find one thts already cooked jus needs to be washed and fried and add a little salt and chopped tomatos

  6. apetizer: toasted/grilled bread   cut them in small shapes

add a little olive oil and cheese

                                                   add basils or cilentros

put them in oven or toaster

main dish:    Tomato Sauce with Rice( if no rice at home use pasta)

                       1) just cook the rice or put it in rice cooker

2)then in a big NONSTICk Pan, toss up some shrimps,

chicken ( cut up in little pieces)  quickly, and cook it

    3) add the shrimps, chicken, and peas

  7. I like the steak and potatoes idea. Look on www.epicurious.com

  8. Shepherds Pie.

    500g (1lb) Minced Lamb.(beef will do)

    1 Large onion.

    2 Beef cubes.

    1 ½ C Water.

    ½ C Frozen peas.

    ½ C Diced carrot.

    2T Cornflour.

    4C Potato. (mashed)

    ½ C Grated cheese.

    Season to taste.

Chop onion and brown lightly, add mince and brown. Crumble in the stock cubes, add 1C of water, carrots and peas.

    Simmer for 10 minutes

Thicken with cornflour mixed with ½ cup water and cook for a couple of minutes.

Spread out in a pie or baking dish and cover with mashed potatoes. Sprinkle with cheese and bake at 190C (375F) for 20 minutes until the potato has browned and the cheese has melted.

If made with beef it would be called Cottage Pie.

  9. Lasagna. Ad don't worry, you don't need to boil the noodles anymore, you can find non boil noodles at the grocery store.

First you'll need to brown some beef, 85-93% is best, I like to add a little pork sausage in there too, usually 1 lb of pork to two ponds of beef.

Put your sauce on low heat, add italian spices and garlic to taste

Mix the sauce and beef together fo 5-10 minutes, this helps the flavors mingle, the longer the better

Butter the pan, place noodles in pan, add your cheeses, mozz, romano, parm, and some people like cottege( not me), build your layers, put plenty of cheese on top,

Heat oven to 375 until cheese on top is golden brown

When you have about 15 min left, put in some garlic bread,

    Serve on large plate

If you want add a salad or a side of spaghetti

  10. You can't go wrong with steaks and baked potatoes. Maybe a nice salad on the side.
