    The basic principle of levers is using "mechanical advantage".

    Using mechanical advantage, one can use a lesser force over a greater distance.

    Force (weight) x Distance = Work (torque)

    Again, use your book.

  3. The fulcrum of your tongs is the pivot point. The load is what you are picking up and the effort is where you put your hand.

    As for the wheel barrow, go to a table. Place something heavy on one end. Lift that end and see how heavy it is. Move the object to the other end of the table and go back to the first end and lift it again. Which was easier?
