Here's the scenario: My buddy and I are trying to move a treadmill to the second story of my house. The extra helpers won't be able to come for a few more days. Therefore, we see this thing every time we walk past the bottom of the stairs.

Here's the question: What ingenious ways can you think of to move a 200 pound treadmill up 17 stairs with two people? Points to the most plausible answer, whether it works or not.

(time for all you heavyweight science minds to kick into action)(some creative ideas can turn out to be pretty funny too)

  1. put rope through the top railing and attach one ind to your treadmill and then pull form the bottom of the stair with the other person pulling it from directly in front of it to make sure it goes straight.  Wrap card board on the bottom so it slide more easily.

  2. Secure a pulley to the wall at the top of the stairs. Run a rope secured to the treadmill up through the pulley and down through the front door to the bumper of your car. Put a nice slider in the bottom of the treadmill. Drive the car slowly away and the treadmill will slide up the stairs. Nice and easy.

You may find that the wall securing the pulley cannot hold the load. No problem. Secure the rope to the treadmill, put on the nice slider so it can smoothly go up the stairs. Run the rope up the stairs through the back and down to the car bumper in the back yard. Then slowly drive the car and watch the treadmill slide up the stairs.

You may find that there is not enough room to drive the car in front or back. No problem. Park the car in the front or back. Jack it up such that the drive wheels are not touching the ground. Put a cinder block underneath (just in case it collapses). Remove one of the tires. Using the bolts on the tireless wheel bolt a 12 inch pipe with a flange that will fit the bolt pattern of the wheel. Wind the rope around the pipe. Attach the other side of the rope to the treadmill as described above. Put the car in drive and winch the treadmill up. Nice and easy.
