Simple rabbit question

I just got a baby rabbit on Tuesday. She doesn't like being held. She acts like she has ADD when she is being held and so far she just likes to sit in the corner of her cage. How can I comfort her and make her more comfortable with her new surroundings?

  1. Give her her space. Once she seems comfortable in her new surroundings offer her a piece of carrot from your hand. Don't corner her. If she runs to the corner of her cage she is trying to tell you she doesn't want to be held. Rabbits don't usually want to be held... it's in their nature because they cannot land safely (like a cat). Once she is more comfortable with her new home and with you she will let you pick her up at the cage door.

  2. try playing with your baby rabbit so the rabbit can get use to you

  3. rabbits are not good pets :/

    they dont like being held.

there pretty much a waste of money to have.

guinea pigs arent much more active.

but ferrets, chinchillas, etc. are alot more playfull!

  4. Take her out of the cage more, maybe let her roam around the house or have a designated area for her. Give her lots of attention and hand feed her treats, like carrots. Buy some toys and stuff like that to keep her busy, plus let her always see you around so she gets to know you and will allow you to pet her easily.

  5. rabbits can be a little skittish naturally because they're prey for so many different animals that their defenses are up all the time.

If I were you, at first I would not expose the rabbit to other pets (the cats), too many abrupt movements, loud noises, or environment changes: just a nice, comfy, stable area.  Let the rabbit explore the different smells and sights at her own pace for a few more days.  Always be very gentle and give the rabbit food.  She should come around soon.

  6. Rabbits don't like being held. Some will learn to tolerate it, but it's in their nature to dislike it.
