  1. y+36 = -4x <-- Solve for x

    x = -(36+y)/4

    y = -(36+x)/4 <-- Interchange x and y to get inverse

  2. 4x=-y-36

    x= (y-36)/4

    or

    f' ^-1   (x)= (x-36)/4

    hint: find x

  3. hi angel, here...

    to find the inverse of a function, you need to be able to modify the equation so the X will become the subject(a variable being left alone on one side).

    in your question the Y is the subject, got it?

    then ...

    y = -4x - 36

    y + 4x = -36

    4x = -y - 36

    x = -y/4  - 9

    then the inverse is ( just replace the y with x )

    y = -x/4 - 9.

    done...

    see ya

  4. Solve for x

    y + 36 = -4x

    (y + 36)/-4 = x

    x = -y/4 - 9
