Exercise 2.4 Directions: Go back to Exercise 2.3 and identify the simple subject and simple predicate of each sentence.

I'm not really good with simple subject and predicate. Finding the subject and predicate is no problem, but this exercise is a bit confusing. It's supposed to be the noun and verb of each group, right? I don't really understand it. Some help, please?

  1. Yes.  The subject is the noun, and the predicate is the verb.

  2. Just the noun and just the verb, not the whole phrase i.e.

    1. water was

    2. boss gave

    3. friend won
