  1. 21-8        =8

    3+5         =8

    10/5        =2

    9

    I'm pretty sure, at least. :)

  2. 1.  21-2.4=   18.6

    2. 4.5

    3. 2

    4. sorry gtg

  3. Evaluating arithmetic expression requires the use of the BOMDAS rule, which simply means that in terms of operator prescedance Brackets come first, then Multiplication, Division, Addition and finally Subtraction, if you follow these rules the expressions become simple in nature to evaluate

    for (1)

    7(3) - 2.4

    Brackets first -> no operations occurring in brackets for 3, therefore

    7(3) - 2.4 = 7.3 - 2.4

    Multiplication follows, thus

    7.3 - 2.4 = 21 - 8 = 13

    for (2)

    6/2 + 1.5

    Brackets first --> no brackets

    Multiplication Second, therefore

    6/2 + 1.5 = 6/2 + 5

    Division follows, therefore

    6/2 + 5 = 3 + 5

    Followed by Addition

    3+5 = 8

    for (3)

    10 / (4+1)

    Brackets first --> (4 + 1) = 5

    Thus,

    10/(4+1) = 10/5

    Multiplication next --> no Multiplications

    Divisions next (10/5 = 2)

    for (4)

    3(9.2 /(10-4))

    Brackets first (perform inner most brackets first (10 - 4) = 6

    3(9.2/(10-4)) = 3(9.2/6)

    Multiplications Second (9.2 = 18)

    Thus

    3(9.2/6) = 2(18/6)

    Divisions next (18/6) = 3

    Thus

    3(18/6) = 3(3) = 9

    I know Ive gone into what is probably more detailed than required, however I always found it frustrating that basic arithmetic algebra wasnt explained in full detail when I first encountered it a number of years ago.

    Hope this helps,

    David

  4. That is pretty straightforward

    7(3)=21, 2*4 = 8

    21-8-13

    6/2 = 3 1*5 = 5

    3+5=8

    4+1=5

    10/5 = 2

    10-4 = 6

    9*2 = 18

    18/6=3

    3*3 = 9

    The order you solve these problems

    1) Do what is inside the parenthesis first

    2)Exponential

    3)multiply and divide(whichever comes first going from left to right)

    4)add and subtract (whichever comes first going from left to right)

  5. 1)

    7(3) - 2 x 4

    = 21 - 8

    = 13

    2)

    6 ÷ 2 + 1 x 5

    = 3 + 5

    = 8

    3)

    10 ÷ (4 + 1)

    = 10 ÷ 5

    = 2

    4)

    3[9 x 2 ÷ (10 - 4)]

    = 3[18 ÷ 6]

    = 3[3]

    = 9

  6. 13,8,2,9

  7. shouldnt you do your own homework?

    Use pemdas... the order of operations

    first you do

    perethesis

    exponent

    multiplication division

    addition subtraction

  8. Just use the BODMAS Rule and you'll get it easily.... Check this link:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_op...

    1) 7(3) - 2 · 4

    =>21 - 8

    =>13.

    _____________________________________

    2) 6 ÷ 2 + 1 · 5

    => 3 + 1· 5

    =>3 + 5

    =>8.

    _____________________________________

    3) 10 ÷ (4 + 1)

    =>10 ÷ (5)

    =>2.

    _____________________________________

    4) 3[9 · 2 ÷ (10 - 4)]

    =>3[9 · 2 ÷ (6)]

    =>3[9 · (⅓)]

    =>3[3]

    =>9.

    Hope that helped.....

  9. The key to these equations is to remember the order of operations known as PEMDAS:

    P = Parenthesis

    E = Exponential

    M = Multiplication

    D = Division

    S = Subtraction

    This means that in any equation you would do whatever is in parenthesis first, then any exponentials, multiplication, etc.

    With multiplication and division you solve from left to right (their order is inter-changeable).  Meaning that if you see multiplication first, multiply first and vise versa.  Same goes with addition and subtraction.

    So the first problem there is multiplication and subtraction.  Following PEMDAS, you do the multiplication first.  You would get 21 - 8.  Then you can subtract giving you 13.

    2.      6 / 2 + 1 * 5

            now here's what I was saying about solving left to right.  The order of multiplication and division are inter-changeable.  You just solve from left to right.  In this case divide first.

           =3 + 1 * 5

             then multiply

           =3 + 5

           =8

    3.      10 / (4 +1)

             parenthesis first

           =10 / 5

           = 2

    4.      3[9 · 2 ÷ (10 – 4)]

             do everything inside the brackets first.

             solve the parenthesis first.

           = 3[9 * 2 ÷  6]

              here again we have multiplication and division.  Going left to right, you multiply first.

           =3[18 ÷ 6]

             now divide

           = 3[3]

           = 9

    Hope this helps.

  10. 1) 7(3) -2 x 4

        21 - 8 = 13

    2) 6/2 + 1 x 5

         3   + 5 = 8

    3) 10 / (4+1)

            10/5 = 2

    4) 3[9 x 2 / (10-4)]

        3 [18/6] = 3[3] = 9
