  1. a)

    (-6y^3)(2y)/4y^4

    = [-6][2][y^(3 + 1)]/4y^4

    = -12y^4/4y^4

    = (-12/4)(y^4/y^4)

    = [-3][y^(4 - 4)]

    = [-3][y^0]

    = [-3][1]

    = -3

    b)

    4(2x - 6) - 2(x - 4)

    = 4*2x - 4*6 - 2*x + 2*4

    = 8x - 24 - 2x + 8

    = 8x - 2x - 24 + 8

    = 6x - 16

    = 2(3x - 8)

    c)

    (x + 3)(4x + 1)

    = x*4x + 3*4x + x*1 + 3*1

    = 4x^2 + 12x + x + 3

    = 4x^2 + 13x + 3

  2. 1){-6y^3*2y}/{4Y^4}={-6*2*y^(3+1)}/{4Y^4...

    (-12Y^4)/(4Y^4)=  (-12/4*Y^4-4) = -3*Y^0  -3*1=-3

    2)8x-24-2(x-4)=  8x-24-2x+8 = 8x-2x-24+8 = 6x-16

    3)x+3(4x+1)=  x(4x+1)+3(4x+1)  =4x^2+x+12x+3 = 4x^2+13X+3
