would you mind explaining them a little bit too?

1.2(x+3)

2.1/2(x-5)

3.3a+5a

4.-5a+10a+3b+7a-3b

5.12x/3

6.12y/4y

Thanks in advance!(:

  1. 1. 2x+6

    2. 1/[2x-10]

    3. 8a

    4. 12a

    5. 4x

    6. 3

  2. webmath.com

  3. 1. 2(x+3)    - expand by multiplying the expression by two

    = 2x + 6

    2. 1/2(x-5)   -expand by multiplying the expression by one half

    = 1/2x - 2 1/2

    3. 3a + 5a   - add 3a and 5a because they have the same variable

    = 8a

    4. -5a + 10a + 3b + 7a - 3b   - combine like terms (a+a) or (b+b)

    = 12a

these i think i did wrong because i haven't done this in a long time...sorry

    5. 12x/3      - divide 12 by 3

    = 4x

    6. 12x/4       -divide 12 by 4

    = 3x

  4. im in ap math  lol if u in  college u should have the coledge carculaterand find the answer out or see if the carculater on your computer  has it cause hunny i dont know but i use my carculater

  5. 1. Distribute, by multiplying the 2 into the parentheses. It would be 2*x + 2*3, leaving you 2x+6 as your answer.

    2. Do the same process as in number 1, expect now you're using 1/2. It would give you 1/2x-2.5.

    3. Since 3a and 5a contain a similar variable (they are like terms) you can add them together, leaving you with 8a.

    4. Add like terms. It would give you 12a+ 0b, or you can write it just as 12a.

    5. You can divide the 12 by 3, but the x would have to be left behind because the 3 doesn't share a similar variable (if you look, only 12 has a variable). The answer is 4x.

    6. Divide like terms. The y's cancel out. 3.

  6. When simplifying, you need to  make the problem be in a "simpler" form by performing the operations in it.  For example, if you have--

    6(a-4)

you need to multiply the stuff inside the () by 6, so that you get 6a-24 as your simplified answer.

If you have lots of terms with the same variable, you need to add the variables that are the same together

    6x+7x+6y+3y

    would simplify to 13x+9y.

If you have fractions, then you need to reduce them to their "smallest" form

    12

    ----

    14

    becomes

    6

    ---

    7

by dividing the top number and the bottom number by the biggest factor they have in common.

You do this if variables are involved too...

    12x

    -----

    14

    becomes

    6x

    ---

    7

    I hope this helps.

  7. 1. 2(x+3) just means get rid of the bracket. Imagint the first bracket means multiply. So u multiplu 2 and x to give you 2x and multiply 2 by 3 to give u 6. So the final simplified answer is 2x+6.

    2. Do the same method as above for this one. Just remember there is a negative before the 5.

    3. Basically you are trying to gather any "like-terms". Because 2a and 5a contain "a" then u can combine them to make 7a.

    4. Again you are collecting like terms so -5a + 10a + 7a = 12a

Then u need to collect all the bs. So 3b - 3b = 0 So the answer is 12a.

    5. This is just basic division. 12x divded by 3 is 4x

    6. Again basic divison. So the answer is 3y

  8. 1. expand. 2x +6

    2. expand. 1/2x - 2.5

    3. collect like terms. 8a

    4. collect like terms. 12a

    5. greatest common factor (3). 4x/1 which is = to 4x

    6. greatest common factor (4y). 3/1, which is = to 3

    hope this helps
