Simpson, Daly, Gainey, Wi finish tied for 52nd at RBC Heritage
Webb Simpson, John Daly, Charlie Wi and Tommy Gainey finished tied for the 52nd position at the RBC Heritage Golf Tournament, on Sunday.
They scored 4-over 288 and record inconsistent scores throughout the four-day tournament organised by the PGA Tour, at the Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Simpson faced tough challenges against the field, whereas he also failed to score under-par most of the time.
The American scored at par in the first round, +3 in the second, -1 in the third and 2-over par on Sunday. Such an inconsistent score dragged him down from his previous position, as he only carded 15 birdies and 13 bogeys.
Daly shot 70, 74, 68 and 76 throughout the four days. He was also failed to score well and displayed a mediocre performance on Sunday, the final round.
He started the tournament by scoring a 1-under par, but he lost his focus in the second round and shot a 3-over 74. He again improved his ranking and recorded a 3-under 68 on Saturday.
The American was unable to score a birdie and carded five bogeys in the final round on Sunday. Recording such unimpressive scores on the leaderboard took him down, and he finished tied for the 52nd position.
Wi made an early start at the RBC Heritage and made a -3 in the first round. This was the best score from the Korean in the tournament. Later, he faced tough challenges in the next three rounds.
After hitting 68, he shot a 73 on Friday and Saturday. In the final round, he further made a 3-over par and dropped outside the top-50.
American Gainey also displayed a poor performance and finished the event by making two double bogeys on Sunday.
He shot 70, 70, 68 and 80. His last round was the poorest one, where he made only one birdie and recorded six bogeys.
They finished 10 strokes behind the leader Carl Pettersson, who played a tremendous game and cheered all his spectators after winning his fifth PGA Tour title. He scored 14-under 270, along with 22 amazing birdies. His driving was also the best.
Simpson, Daly, Gainey, Wi showed unimpressive performances and they were unable to compete for the title. They should focus on improving their game for the future events.
