Newcastle United defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-c10193 Simpson is hoping the club can bounce back from their 2-1 defeat against Fulham on Monday night and said the players are hurting from their recent results.
The right-back was disappointed at having lost to Fulham at Craven Cottage on Monday night. Newcastle have only picked up 1 win in their last 7 games. The Magpies are only 4 points adrift from the relegation zone, and have two daunting tasks ahead of them
as they prepare for away games against Manchester United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew’s side have failed to replicate last season’s impressive 5th place finish, and have gone down from top 4 favourites to potential relegation battlers.
Simpson believes the club is still more than capable of managing a decent run of results and will move up the league table eventually. The former Manchester United player is targeting a result against current English champions Manchester City when they travel
to St. James’ Park on the weekend.
Newcastle have suffered from injuries and suspensions, but have most of their first team players back in the squad. Despite this, they have struggled to find form and consistency and have dropped down to the bottom of the league table.
Speaking to reporters, Simpson said:
“It is hard to take defeat for the fans, but I think they can see it's just not happening for us. They can see we are all working 100 percent. That is what they want to see from people in a Newcastle shirt. We've been unlucky."
“We are missing one or two, but the team out there is more than capable of winning games. We just have to do the right things and win more points."
The player then added that his teammates found it hard to accept the defeat against Fulham after the fighting performance they put in. He believes that if they keep up their spirit, the results will come. He added:
“To come away from home and create as many chances as we did and still lose is hard.”
After already having extended their stay in the Europa League till next year, Simpson is now targeting results in the Premier League. However, City's trip to Tyneside is not to be taken lightly, and the English champions will be out for blood after losing
their first league game of the season last week.
