  1. You might be able to work out what it is from the log that gets generated with the error - it's in the log folder in:

    My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Logs

However, if you have been installing lots with the Maxis installer what is likely to have happened is you have installed an out of date hack.  The packing system is so poor that it packs up all sorts of stuff - often having nothing to do with the lot - and that gets passed on to anyone who downloads the Sims2Pack file and installs in such a careless manner.  BTW, if you installed the lot again, it will have installed the suspect file for a second time.  Yes, it's THAT good.  Unfortunately, the installer also renames all files it installs to meaningless strings of letters and numbers and you will have a very hard time indeed identifying the problem file.

What you need is Clean Installer.  This is a programme that was developed by the modding community about 6 months after the game was released specifically designed to deal with this problem.  You can use Clean Installer to scan your Downloads folder - hacks will show up in red (pink BTW are repeats and can be deleted) and you can delete them by right-clicking on the item and choosing delete.

Also, when you come to install new lots, use Clean Installer to load them - it opens up the Sims2Pack file and you can then weed out any files you don't want before installation.  If you have not used it before, you will be SHOCKED at the amount of c**p that gets put in the game.  And if you have been installing lived-in lots (i.e. with families), you will be even more shocked.  If you have been doing that, don't expect your neighbourhood to work for long without serious problems.

  2. Remove the downloaded items. They are causing a glitch in the game.

Go into the Sims 2 folder, then the downloads folder. find the downloaded items causing the glitch. There should be a searchbox at the top of the wondow. Search whatever you think could be causing this.

    Good luck!

    Xx
