Sims 2 - Apartment Life expansion?

I bought the expansion last night, but there's nothing online about it that I can find.

Can you make your own apartments? I can't seem to do it. I built the complex, but I can't find the required mailbox and I can't figure out how to get it so that it is considered a rental property instead of a home.

Start the lot as a residential lot.  Build it with everything the way you want it decorated and furnished.  Be sure to use the apartment door.  There can be only one entrance to each individual apartment.

Open the cheat box (ctrl shift c)

Type in changelotzoning apartmentbase
