Sims 2: How to know cost as you build?

When you're building a home without selecting a family, how will you know how much your home will be valued at, without having to exit and save the lot?

In buildmode a button was introduced in one of the later expansions that show this. Prior to that, a command was introduced for the same thing. Try CTRL+SHIFT+C and write either lotvalue or I believe showlotvalue.

If you have none of these later expansions, I believe you have to exit and look in hood.
