Question:

Sims 2 crashes at loading screen...?

I've had The Sims 2 FreeTime installed for ages now (since it came out). It's worked okay until today when I tried to play the game, it crashes at the loading screen. (Well, nothing loads and it says that it isn't responding.)

There's no scratches on the disc and I've cleaned it, so what should I do?

I've also uninstalled and reinstalled it.

There's a lot of Custom Content on it, should I take that away and see if it works?

Thanks in advance.

  2. first, make sure you have the all latest patches, I know that the FreeTime one has been issued at least twice.

Crashing on loading, or refusing to load can certainly be a sign of bad or incompatible custom content.  It can take just one piece to bork your game.

Try moving all of your custom content out of the Downloads folder and into a new folder in a different location, like your Desktop.  If the game loads fine with no custom content at all, then you have a bad piece.  You can add your custom content back in in small groups to try and isolate the bad piece.  It is slow and tedious, but if cc is your problem, it's what you need to do.
