Okay the game is getting pretty glitchy.

Every time sims sit down together they disappear and appear standing up behind the chair or in front of the couch, etc.

But the only time the game crashes is when they are lying down next to each other on the bed. What could be the problem? It just started doing that out of no where.

  1. It sounds like a well known glitch, but one that is really old and has been fixed with a patch a long time ago.  So if you could give more info such as what game(s) do you have installed and whether you have patched them or not, it would be easier to help you.  Also, do you have custom content in your game and if you do (which I have tons of it, so I'm not saying that you shouldn't) did you recently download something and then notice this problem?

If you could modify your question, I may be able to help more.

Also, if you have more than one game and you have installed patches, have you installed patches for all the games?  Or just one?  List which patches you have installed as well as which games you have.  Thanks.

Wollybutt, my jump bug was fixed when I patched my original The Sims 2 (cd version) with the patch on the EA website.  But I have heard that it came back with either BV or FT.  I have every ep/sp up to and including Seasons and I don't have any problems with it.  Haven't actually since I patched the original game.  But yes, that is the glitch I was thinking the person was describing.  I was always told it was caused by too many memories building up, especially if the person is playing with aging turned off.  But I guess live and learn.  Thanks for being so helpful and teaching me something.

  2. well i suggest getting a new one

  3. Yep what you have is the good old jump bug. I have this too in my game and my game is fully patched so patches don't necessarily fix it. It's caused by an error in one of the thousands of behavior scripts that run in the Sims 2. When a jump bug is triggered, your sims will "snap" or "jump" to their default pose as you have described, which is standing upright, arms at their side, and idling. All queued behaviors are cancelled. Jump bugs are most often noticed when a sim interacts with an object or another person and all actions (including the current one) are abruptly terminated.

The best thing to do is to capture an error log, "trap" the jump bug, and analyze the output. Here's how:

    1. Press CTRL+SHIFT+C to bring up the cheatbox

    2. Type boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true

    3. Repeat the steps necessary to reproduce the "jump" bug

    4. An error message will be displayed. Make a note of the name of the file that is shown on a piece of paper. Dismiss the error by choosing Reset. If the error is continuous, then you may need to respond with Delete.

    5. Exit the game; DO NOT SAVE (especially if you answered 'Delete' in Step #4).

    6. Browse to your My Documents/EA Games/The Sims 2/Logs folder and locate the file that you wrote down in Step #4.

    7. Zip and attach this file to a post and someone with experience with modding can have a look at it to see what might be causing you problems.

You can maybe ask at the help forums at www.insimenator.net/, or the modding forums at modthesims2.com.
