Sims 2 deluxe not working? ?

I have a new laptop and bought the sims 2 deluxe game on it for these kids I babysit, and it was working fine for about a week or so. I think nightlife came with the set, so that expansion pack is on there. I have not downloaded anything else, and I have already tried uninstalling it then reinstalling it, downloading direct x, making it compatible (I have vista) and system restore to a point where it was working. Any ideas as to how to fix it? These kids will be really upset if it dosent work anymore.

You have to download all of it. Also sims does not work so well on laptops.

It would help if you posted your laptop model or system specs, but I'll have a guess and say that your machine has a low-end graphics card or onboard graphics like most laptops, and as such you are going to have great difficulty trying to play a demanding game like Sims 2 Double Deluxe on it. (particularly Celebration Stuff, which has very high requirements.)

If you are playing on Vista you also need at least 2 gigs of RAM.

Otherwise you might have to get one of the laptop compatible Sims 2 games like Castaway Stories, Pet Stories etc.
