Sims 2! i lost my serial code.?

my friend gave me the game today she has had it for a while and lost the outer box and manual. i have the hard box which contains the cds and a little pice of paper that says sims 2 key commands. is there any way i could find the serial code for it? it was installed once and not registered i think. my friend is looking for the manual so in the mean time is there anything i can do to play?

The serial code is probably on the box itself or on one of the disc cases.  Sometimes you can buy someone else's code from ebay for only like $5.  I did it when I lost my COD4 key.  Only cost me $5, much easier than re-buying the game.
