Sims 2 is continuously freezing, what can I do?

I just got this new acer laptop, with up to 358MB mobile intel graphic media accelerator x3100, and t keeps freezing.

It does have some scratches on the disc though... but it loaded up the family once... so I don't know.

Is there some way to tone down the MB thing to 256MB?

Is that the problem?

I'd say the problem is your graphics. You don't have a proper card, but rather onboard graphics, which is basically just a chip on your motherboard and is not suitable for gaming. You can very rarely upgrade to a supported card card if you have a laptop, they're just not designed that way.

You should get Castaway Stories or Pet Stories or one of those Sims games specifically designed for laptops with low-end graphics.
