Sims 2 loading problem on Vista?

I'm trying to play sims 2 deluxe on my vista laptop (comes with nightlife and celebration), and it works fine until i'm creating my sims and i click yes or the check mark to load the sim and then it freezes on the loading screen going back to the town. i've check the technical support and other help things online but no answers. please help

i remember the same thing happened to me and i think what i did was i was trying to play with the deluxe disk in when i was supposed to play with nightlife or one of the other disks (i dont remember which one i used)

so try using another disk and see if it works.

do you have a lot of custom content, particularly hair, eyes, anything you would use to Create a Sim?  Sometimes if you have a lot of custom content, it will cause the game to run very slowly at certain points.
