Question:

Sims 2 problem - I think I have too many people in my house!?

Hey there! I've been playing the Sims 2 and for the first time, I happened to make a very big family. It consisted of two adults, 3 teenagers and a child and the game was working just fine (except for a couple of times when my computer just randomly shut down while I was playing, but I just figured that was because it had been on for so long). However, the mother in the family recently had twins, bringing the family member count up to 8. Right after they were born, the game was still working ok, so I sent everybody to bed and exited the game. But every time I try to play that family, it works for maybe a minute, and then freezes, the screen goes black, and then it either goes back to desktop with the game minimized, or the screen goes all funky and I have no choice but to turn the computer off manually. My computer is a Pentium 4, with windows XP installed. It should have all the system requirements for the Sims 2, I was told it has all the top components at the time. The computer is only about 4 years old - younger than the Sims 2, unless I am mistaken. Has this happened to anyone? Why does it happen? Is it because there are too many Sims there? How do I fix it?

Thanks, people. :)

  1. hmm

i don't think its the too many sims problem

because i think your allowed to have up to 8 sims per house hold

    so try playing another family

if it freezes up then you may have a problem with your computer

and you may want to look into that

    hope i helped :]

  2. That happened with one of my families. Well, not to that extreme, but the game wouldn't let me play with them, and I was pissed cause that was like the great grandchildren on my original sim that I made. But I moved them out of the house they were in and moved them in somewhere else. If you don't know how to move them out of their house (without actually loading the family) then you can just e-mail me. Anyways, I moved them into a different house and then it worked just fine. Also, I would recommend defragmenting your computer. you do this by:

    -opening your start menu

    -going up to accessories

    -opening the system tools file

-then you will see a program that says "Disk defragmenter"

    -analyze and then defragment

Good luck with your sim game. :)

  3. It's definitely not the too many Sims problem, because the most number you can have is 8. I'd call out a computer guy to come check it out if you could, because I think there's something wrong with your computer...
