Simulation: IRAN VS. UNITED STATES?

Question

The U.S.S Antietam was in Iranian waters and was surrounded by three Iranian destroyers. Demands for the Iranians to retreat failed and thus the the Navy sent an Aircraft Carrier and two destroyers to help the Antietam out but the Iranians fired upon us. They sank our ships. What should the United States do in return. Strategic plans please. NOTE: russia and china support iran.

I think the air craft carrier & 2 detroyers at this point in time should only be concerned w/ retreiving as many Americans as the can out of the water.

A lot would also depend on what else the Iranians did after firing & sinking on our ship. Did they fire on the other three?

How exactly were the ships sunk (very unlikely scenario). What did the US subs in the region, always in support, do? Did the carriers planes, in support above, return fire, or directly attack in Iran?

Iran would be obliterated if they made such an attack... regardless of the military position held by Russia or China.

Your scenario is unrealistic and would only result in utter and total destruction of Iran.

I agree with jh.  A US ship ain't going down like that.... Don't you mean surrounded ALL THREE Iranian destroyers?

Anyway, the Iranian navy would pretty much cease to exist in about 15 minutes... and don't sweat China and Russia.  IF we assualted in such an unprovoked attack, they would sit that one out.
