  1. Sin is a concept made up by greedy religious people.

  2. I'm not a sinner since I'm not the religious kind. On the other hand I rarely break rules or act against what's considered to be socially accepted. I refuse to conform to some standards now and then but it's not criminal or morally wrong.

I'm better than my parents for sure. At least I'm better than my father, he's an alcoholic and he's been doing a lot of wrong things in his days.

According to the bible there is no sin that's greater than the other, all sins are equal. That's something that religious people in general tend to forget. For me the four is; killing or harming others in any way (not only physically), destruction of property and land, not acting when you see that another person needs help and knowingly breaking the law and rules to get a benefit of any kind. That would cover all criminal activity I believe.

While I can accept the thought of assisted suicide I'm also worried that it will be (or is) being used in the wrong way. People also change their minds now and then and how can you be sure that they wouldn't (or hasn't) changed their mind? There need to be very clear rules and laws about how it can be done. Once that's done then I don't see it as a crime, giving someone the means they need to commit suicide is not murder.

I really do think there is less crime now. I've seen statistics that shows that there was more crime in the 70's as an example. The thing is that when you create rules and laws you create sinners and criminals. The better you are at pointing the sinners and the criminals out the more they will seem to be. I think people are people and that they have been doing basically the same things since days of old. The names of the sins and the crimes has changed over time, how they are punished has changes, how they are found has changed, but people are still people.

I think we are all born neutral, not good or bad, with a healthy amount of selfishness within us. Looking out for one self is a good way to survive in nature and I'd be very surprised if humans that has evolved this far doesn't look after no1 as a default setting. As we grow we learn that sometimes it's better to give than to take and that being fair is something that we all benefit from.

  3. Wow James, those are some thought provoking powerful questions...I'll do my best to answer them truthfully...

I think I sin at least once a day.... I'll leave it at that

I think my mom sinned more than I do but that doesn't make her a bad person. My father, I don't think has ever sinned in his life...the man was born a saint.

To me, any sin is as bad as any other. In Gods eyes, a sin is a sin...doesn't matter how big or small.

Mercy killing in my opinion is not a sin....Suicide is. God has a plan for everyone and when you take your own life you are messing with HIS plan....that's a sin.

I think society has become more sinful. Decades ago you could actually let your children walk around the neighborhood without so much as a thought that something bad would happen to them....now I'm afraid to let them play in the front yard if I'm not there to watch them.

I honestly feel some people were born good while others are born evil.

These questions you ask are to complex to really answer in detail. This would be an excellent discussion topic for people who are face to face together discussing it. Excellent qustions though.
