  1. I say D40... i have it. i use it. i love the value for money... id spend my extra cash for good lenses instead.

    cheers!!

  2. None can decisively predict increase or decrease in the rates of new/old cameras of any make/model in your area. So far as the rates of new cameras/models is concerned a trend of rising prices is visible. Want to buy? Have a look at a wide range/varieties of cameras.

  3. All digital cameras will depreciate rapidly. the reason for this is the rapid advance in technology. The D50 is a good camera (I have one) the D80 is a better camera (I have one of those too) the D300 is a better camera still (I have one of those too) and the D700 is better still. I have spent thousands in the last couple of years and I still don't have the latest greatest. It will never end.

  4. Cameras (except for really old ones) aren't exactly collectors items. Instead, they're just like any other electronics items - as better versions come out they quickly lose value.

The Canon 10D is no longer made. It originally sold for $1200. It can now be found on ebay for $250.

The one thing I will say is that you should hold onto your d50 until November. The price will go up then. It's not going up because of "collector value" but because people are buying used DSLRs as Christmas gifts so demand is high. After Christmas the price will drop again.
