  1. idk because they feel like it???

  2. What????!!!!

  3. It has nothing to do with heat rising. Look up "The Greenhouse Effect" or "Global Warming".

  4. Convection distributes heat:

Warm air rises causing cooler air to sink and warmed air to displace the air at ground level

Hence why a room will be warmest at the ceiling, but a radiator will still warm the whole room

  5. Ildico has it right. To illustrate have you ever been in the mountains and it gets colder the higher up you go? Notice the tallest peaks are covered in snow and glaciers while the base is desert, sand, rock?

  6. pollution increases the amount of greenhouse gases (nitrous oxide, methane, co2, and fluorocarbons). These gases trap the heat in the atmosphere. Picture your body, it is giving off heat at all time, but when you cover yourself with a blanket you obviously get warmer. The greenhouse gases act like a blanket. So if the average temperature of the atmosphere increases, no matter where you, south pole, north pole, top of everest, the climate will get slightly warmer, and with enough increase in heat the ice caps will melt.

  7. Two things:

    1. The atmosphere holds the heat in. That is part of the problem: pollution increases the amount of heat held in by the atmosphere.

    2. Gravity. All the heat can't rise, because of a simple discovery of Isaac Newton. Gravity is a harsh mistress.
