Question:

Since I'm 18, do my parents have to sign school forms?

Most of the forms (for school, sports, etc.) have a slot for parent signature, but now that I am 18, is it required that they sign it, or can I sign them myself?

Thanks.

  1. I think that your school will still want your parent to sign. even though you are an adult you stull live with your parents so if you get in an accident they need to know that your parents are ok with you being taken to the doctors .

  2. technically no, when i turned 18 and i was still in school i would write my own absence notes and everything and they would accept them, but i had also moved out of my house.

  3. No.

    you sign yourself

  4. Your parents are still your parents regardless of your age. They will need to sign as long as you reside in their home./

If you want to be independent you should move out of the home and support yourself while going to school./

  5. Because high school is so bureaucratic, they will still require a parent signature even if you are 18. You are not allowed to sign anything for school on your own.

  6. typically you can because your an adult. check with your guidance department to be sure

  7. No because you are considered an adult. But make sure that it is for the right reasons. They also may send something home for your parents or give them a call as well.

  8. im 16 and my sisters 20.... they told my sis that you have to be at least 21 and over to sign it.... so yah =\

  9. if your parents are around, just let them sign it, other than that though, you can sign anything you want.

  10. nope, you're legally an adult now.

  11. At my school they try to get some 18 year olds to get their parents to sign report cards but they still get away with it most of the time and write their own absence ecuse letters and everything. But legally they are an adult and should be able to the only reason they try is because parents were on their a*s' about it. When I have to do practicum for gym in grade 12 I'm allowed to sign it myself and this is approved by my gym teacher, so I guess it depends on the school.

  12. They still need to sign them.

The only way you'd be able to do it yourself is if you moved away from home and acted as your own guardian.
