Palin takes on oil industry, Republicans

"She immediately took on the state's most lucrative industry, questioning whether Alaska - which gets about 85% of its revenue from big oil - is getting its fair share of the oil companies' billions of dollars in quarterly profits."

"She is not pro- or con-big companies," says Mr. Irwin. "Gov. Palin didn't submit to the force and control of the large companies. She forced [them] into a fair, open competitive process."

  1. LOL!  People were saying on here yesterday that she is part of big oil because her husband worked for them (as a laborer on the oil line)

Problem is, they dont like the facts to get in the way of their opinion.

ADD:  I heard her speaking a few months ago about drilling in Alaska and she really put Anwar into perspective.  Libs make it sound like we will drill through the entire state uuntil there is no life left, but it is actually a relatively small piece of land.  I think she will be a good education for us all.

  2. As VP she will be a hero to all Americans.

She will do it all while continuing to Pi$$ Off the Old Boy Network.

Her selection is a blessing for all who are looking for REAL CHANGE.

A real woman striking a blow for all the little people.

Wow an 80% approval rating coming out of the gate!

    You go girl!

She just might be our first female president in a couple of years.

Finally woman are getting their due.

Well done it's been long overdue.

  3. Palin took away a pipeline project from the Oil companies and is building it as a State of Alaska project.

That actually IS Socialism.  She has privatized a part of the oil industry.

The Republicans are running a Socialist.

  4. She boosted taxes on oil co's from 22.5 to 25%. Good. She did her job, she's compelled by the state's constitution to balance the budget, and that's about the only way she could do it.

In return for the oil co's cooperation on taxes, she supports their relentless drive for profits and believes there should be drilling in ANWR and just about everywhere else. And if polar bears get in the way, no problem, like a good conservative Republican she simply declares that the species is no longer endangered.

  5. What the h**l are you talking about? She WANTS to drill in Alaska - even McCain is against that!

Edit: You contradict yourself - if she is for "ME" because she wants to drill - then conversely McCain must be AGAINST "me". WOW! Thanks for the input!

  6. I just heard her say on the news personally that she wants to drill in Alaska. What makes you think she would be opposed to big oil?

  7. She made that up, Alaskans have been getting royalties from the oil companies for decades, everyone knows that, here is what a member of her own party said, a conservative Republican Joe Scarborough, a former Republican congressman, for once he got it exactly right: "If John McCain's campaign thinks he can get Hillary Clinton voters by choosing Palin it is condescending and insulting to women and it is a terrible political faux pax. You don't break through a glass ceiling because of gender or race, you do it on the basis of ability, experience, intelligence and judgment -- all qualities that Governor Palin either sorely lacks or has yet to demonstrate This is a stunt pick that is an insult to truly qualified women like Hillary Clinton or Kay Bailey Hutchison and, by extension, to all women"

  8. Liberals are hypocrites.

  9. Liberals love oil, just ask Pelosi.

    Liberals are hypocrites.

  10. She is from the opposite party that is all they need to know.  However, she is a modern version of Harry Truman.  He stepped on people's toes in the process of doing what was right and his 22% appproval rating when he left office showed he did what he thought was needed to get the job done.
