surance companies pay for abortions and tattoo removal? People are just trying to get rid of a very bad mistake that they made and they should not have to pay for it for life!

(I know, someone is going to say a tattoo is not in the same class as an abortion, but how would you like to be stuck with the disgrace of an ugly tattoo?)

  1. I find it repugnant that you are comparing tattoos and abortions.

  2. Insurance should only cover medical expenses that are determined health necessities by a licensed physician.

Getting a tattoo removed may be ugly, but it's not a health issue (same reason that cosmetic surgery should not be covered by insurance).

Abortions, unless medically necessary to save the life of the mother, are not health issues. They are CHOICES, and should not be covered by insurance.

  3. Well, as far as tattoos go, I would be extremely cautious in getting a tattoo, just like you are extremely cautious when playing with yoru s*x life.

I think insurance companies have the option to offer, but not a manditory

  4. Burn the Insurance Companies! It's all their fault. Their in it with the drug companies. Their building androids for Steven Speilberg. If it weren't for them there would be no unwanted pregnancy or tattoo parlors in the first place.

  5. First off, abortions and tattoos aren't to be judged as "repugnant" activities. Secondly, tattoos and abortions are completely different and separate things all together. Abortions are not pretty deeds - they are painful and sensitive procedures and are the RIGHT OF THOSE WOMEN WHO DO THEM. Tattoos are not repugnant - they are personal artistic expressions. Any who, disagreeing with the writer of this question completely - I think insurance companies should pay for abortions but not necessary tattoo removals (that would be considered cosemetic). Of course, that is never going to happen (insurance companies paying for abortions - I would probably say that more than half the women who get them probably don't have health insurance to begin with so it really doesn't matter does it?)

  6. Repugnant? Your opinion, and I would appreciate it if you expressed such an idea as opinion instead of fact. I am for abortion in the right circumstances and can see why some people do it in other cases. Tattoos are different; tattoos are almost always the choice of the individual from start to finish. If someone gets a bad tattoo that they later hate then they have to live with it, it isn't a matter for an insurance company. If someone gets drunk then crashes a car, no insurance company would pay up since you did it to yourself. Only factors outside of the individuals control can result in payment from insurance.

I would never get a tattoo unless I am sure I will always like it, but if I were to get one that I later didn't like then tough, I got it in the first place, if I want to get rid of it then I will have to pay up.

  7. Many insurance companies do pay for abortions. What's your point?

  8. So basically you asked this question to cause an on slaught of angry answers from people who can not understand how the He** you could ever compare an abortion to a tattoo... or how you could think of a child as a disgrace. The disgrace is that you had a drunken one night stand and got/ got someone pregnant. Not the child. I have a tattoo I hate I got it done when I was 15. But you know what? I live with it. It was a choice I made, be it bad, and now its going to be with me in my grave. But oh well, that's the consequences of my choice. At least no one else is going to suffer for it.

  9. People should be able to get rid of anything they want, their bodies, their right.

  10. You shouldn't have gotten such an ugly tattoo.  I love my tattoo's and took time and consideration before I got them and I don't want to get them removed.  I don't find tattoo's repugnant and I don't understand your question.

  11. Since women often have very good reason for terminating a pregnancy insurance companies typically pay for the procedure.  It's a legal medical operation.  Were it not legal, some women would still have abortions.

Tattoos are entirely voluntary as well and any person should have the right to get one if they wish.

Your question seem to show that you feel that society should be more controlled.  There are many countries like this today - old Burma, China, Afghanistan, Chad, Central Africa, Zimbabwe, Cuba, etc.  None of these countries are considered to be affluent.

He doesnt want answers, he just wants to rant and spread his bigotry.

  13. what is the question...?

  14. insurance companies pay for accidents... or stuff you had no control over...

That is what you pay for... it's not backup cash for Tattoo removals...

If you where raped in the abortion case, your medical aid (which is also an insurance company) is suppose to pay for the operation.

    C

  15. Ink is cool. You're a nerd

  16. Insurance companies generally pay for abortions simply because it's cheaper than paying for the delivery. Paying for tattoo removal doesn't save them any money, so there's no reason for them to pay for them since they don't fix an actual medical problem.

  17. if you ask me, they're both something you're choosing to do yourself.

if you didn't wanna get pregnant, don't have s*x.

if you don't want a tattoo, don't get it.

    ...... simple as that.

why would insurance cover something you can't own up to?  that's not their problem, that's all you!

  18. Firstly tattoos aren't repungant, some are trashy but most are done out of spiritual desires and look very beautiful Secondly neither is abortion. And thridly - repungant? That's what I'd call squezzing a baby's head out of my ***.

  19. Tattoos are a cosmetic thing and do not affect your health, so no, that should definitely not be covered by insurance.

Abortion is probably covered if it is threatening the life of the mother.  Otherwise it should not be covered because it is an elective surgery.

  20. I'm not sure what you are saying..In Canada OHIP covers abortions but a tattoo removal is considered "cosmetic" so OHIP would definatly not cover it.  The two are so far apart there is no similarity.  Tattoo removal is not medical.

  21. Tattoos are cosmetic, not the same thing of course.

  22. Nope sure don't. And I support both tattoos and the right to choose.

Medically necessary abortions are usually covered.  Otherwise both procedures are voluntary which means insurance won't pay-just like any other voluntary procedure.

  23. Insurance should pay for abortions in some cases, but not tattoo removal.

If you don't have sense enough to think before you get a tattoo, someone else should not have to pay for you to get it removed.

Abortions in cases of incest or rape should totally be covered by insurance. Also, if there is too high a risk that both baby and mama are going to die, it should be covered.

(Not all abortions are to cover the mistakes of females.)
