They probably did. But who is to say the two teenagers took the time to use it.  I got pregnant on the pill twice while using it correctly, so maybe something like that happened to her. Who knows?

I don't know that she didn't but I know that her daughter didn't receive s*x education because Bush is against it. He wants abstinence only taught in schools. That has been brilliant, hasn't it? The progress that has been made has been reversed. I had s*x ed and didn't have s*x in high school. It was my choice. But I was informed as were my friends. It makes a difference. Knowledge is power. Palin may be against birth control if she's Catholic? I'm guessing that she thought her daughter would follow abstinence only without question. The Republicans are out of touch with the real world. That's the problem.

Why is abstinence unrealistic? There are many people who don't have s*x until they get married - or at least until they are adults.

And, in this day and age, do you really think that a 17-year-old girl has no idea what a condom is or how to use it? There is no age limit for buying condoms. Anyone can walk into the drug store and get one.

Kids don't always listen to their parents. You have to learn to let them start making their own decisions at some age or else they turn into people who think that the government should take care of all of their concerns just like mommy and daddy always did.

Abstinence is not unrealistic. If you don't have s*x, you don't get pregnant. That's real.

What is unrealistic is the liberal idea that all we have to do is teach our kids HOW TO HAVE s*x, and something good will come out of it.

wrong. the actions or inactions of a person running for the vice presidency are the business of us ALL. I have to wonder if it had been Obama's daughter (if she was 15 or 16)of course, if the republican 'family values; group would have been so accepting.  The fact is that palin is a big has-been ex-so-called beauty queen who would bring nothing to the table as a vice president but more lies. Abstinence is only unrealistic because we live in an oversexed society which values individuals over the good of society.

I would be 100% behind abstinence education if a teenaged girl could walk into Target, or Walmart or her local mall, and buy shorts that did not ride up her bum. If she could watch TV without being bombarded by images that love=s*x and s*x=love, then I would put my entire weight into abstinence only education.

Abstinence is not obviously unrealistic.  What is obvious is that a candidate's family is off limits.  Why didn't John Edwards use birth control and he wanted to be Prez.  Stick with the issues and leave the families alone.
