I know this sounds remarkable, but I can assure you it's correct. Almost like something out of a sci-fi film. I think its trying to tell me something in a binary / childlike mix way. Is this due to the enormous processor and has it happened to anybody else. Wait, got to go, it's just started humming which means another message is on its way...

  1. I used to know someone who could read magnetic tape with a magnifying glass.

Start to worry about your laptop if it starts mentioning 'the mission' and calling itself 'HAL'.

For now, worry about getting an appointment with a psych. ;o)

  2. As long as your computer doesn't start saying "hello clarice" or "brains, brains" you have nothing to worry about. When it starts humming, start humming back, maybe you can make a song together.

If the problem persist, send it to Guantanamo bay for repairs...lol

  11. Your not alone.  How do you think I found Yahoo Answers.com

  12. Most likely the humming is the sound of the hard drive(s) rotating hard to answer the demands of the processor(s). Apart from that, perhaps one day machines will come up with a consiousness of their own, that wouldn't be surprising seeing that after all our brains are quite similar to computers.

As long as you don't see a window telling you "I don't fancy working today, dude" you should not worry too much ;-)

  13. My ipod clock radio goes off by itself every day when its not set and randomly goes into sleep mode in the middle of the night......maybe the electronics are sending us some kind of cryptic messages!! lol

  14. Listen carefully to what it's trying to tell you. Once you understand the message, we will be able to help you a bit more.

However, to cover the most common scenarios:

    - It's telling you to drink more brand-name Cola.
