Question:

Since becoming a vegan, I don't have enough energy...?

For a long time I was a happy, healthy vegetarian, but since becoming a vegan I've found myself exhausted all of the time. I feel depressed and never have enough energy. I can't do the exercises I used to, and I have constant stomach aches and feel dizzy a lot. I'm always tired, no matter how much sleep I've gotten. I think the problem may be that I'm not taking enough pills, but I'm not sure what pills to take or where to get them.

Please help me. I don't know how I can fix this.

(No rude answers like "Just eat meat" please. Thank you.)

  1. Telling us that your vegan doesn't give any information on the quality of your diet. In order to get a decent answer you will have to provide additional details.

If cannot manage your diet properly, I would strongly encourage that you take a multivitamin whether you are vegan or not.

  2. you need protein.  are you eating legumes, beans, soy, etc?  spirulina is a great protein supplement (if you can stomach it).  i used it when i was a vegetarian long ago.  get a physical, make sure it's not another condition and then talk to your doctor and even a nutritionist about ensuring you are getting enough of the nutrients you need for your health.  being a sick tired vegan doesn't make much sense.

  3. If you were healthy, go back to a vegetarian for a while, and do some more research on being a vegan, that is what my boyfriend had to do for a while.

  4. Vegan isn't enough for you.

Go back to being a happy and healthy vegetarian.

Don't take pills, when they are a false replica of proper food.

Vegan is not a normal human diet.

It may suit sheep, or even some monkey species, but it is not enough for a normal human.

All vegans I know, btw, are very pale, have weird furry bodies and no muscle tone.

They certainly have no stamina or ability to look after others.

  5. Your probably not getting enough protein. When going vegan, it's important to eat lots of fruits, vegetables and foods rich in protein. Here is a list of foods that contain protein:

    almonds

    black beans

    brown rice

    cashews

    garbonzo beans

    kidney beans

    lentils

    lima beans

    peanut butter

    pinto beans

    seitan

    soybeans

    soymilk

    sunflower seeds

    textured vegetable protein

    tofu

    veggie dogs & burgers

Good luck and hope I helped :)

  6. You can have your blood tested or visit a Dietitian/Nutrutionist..but I am thinking that you are lacking B vitiamins, which are very important for energy and physical performance.  Think about B-12 for your energy and work out results.  B-6 can help with the stomach ache. There is also the zinc factor.  If you are missing that you are going to be "falling flat".  many of these vitamins are in animal based foods.  If you aren't eating them it is really tought to get them.  You are going to have to do very strtegic meal planning and supplement if you are going to stay vegan and be healthy.

  7. Pills are not the answer, although they may be the problem.  You don't say what pills you're currently taking.

A diet of raw fruits. vegetables, nuts, seeds, fresh juices and filtered water (and NO PILLS with the exception of b12) and your energy will return with a vengeance!

  8. get different types of vitimans....and if things get to serious u need to eat some meat (i'm not trying to be rude) you dont have to eat alot just like alittle chop of meat a day and when ur feeling better start cutting down on the meat.
