  1. Don't kid yourself!  I am  American Citizen who lives in Honduras.  You deport, they enjoy the free trip home and return to the U.S.

  2. Yes, it does seem to be working very well and has definitely worked as a deterrent to future violators

  3. Deportation the way it is done now is like bailing out New Orleans during Katrina with a bucket. But is the USA did proper workplace enforcement, using the laws already on the books, to make it impossible to hire an illegal immigrant then all most all of them would self deport themselves. These people are merely filling a demand for cheap labor to do jobs that no American parent wants their child to ever do. If the demand stopped, the supply would dry up. But it seems that business owners (mainly Republicans) are addicted to cheap labor and they don't care where it comes from.

People say there are jobs Americans won't do. Those are jobs Americans won't do for the wage offered. Any job can be filled if the wage rose to a point where the job becomes desirable. This is basic economics.

  4. Absolutely, let's raise those deportation numbers.

  5. Absolutely.  The more enforcement, the greater the deterent to anyone thinking of violating the law.  Enforcement actually assists in prevention of crime.

  6. I do agree with Micol in that I know that Central American illegal immigrants in the US and Canada do love that free trip back home if they have been able to work and/or sell drugs to earn some money for a year or more and they are then ready to go home and visit their families and friends.  They would not otherwise ever be able to afford a plane ride and I have known some Honduran illegal immigrants and they told me this.  After they visit for awhile, they head back to the US/Canada again for more of the same.  Usually their next trip to "el norte" is a little easier because they have learned the ropes and have usually more $ to help them get back as they have the $ they sent home before.

  7. Yes, in California it seems we're really cracking down and there are more raids than ever before.  I think if we take away the benefits they receive currently (ALL benefits) they will know the 'gravy Train' is over and go back home.  Who knows...Maybe they'll even fix their own country.  It could be the best thing that ever happened to them...
