Since feminists support double standards, how can they still they claim they want "equality" ?

In a woman, it's "determined"...in a man it's "stubborn."

In a man, it's "being firm".... in a woman it's "being bitchy"

In a man, it's "dead beat dad"...in a woman it's "she has a right to kill her baby"

There are many more I could list.

Doesn't the fact that some of these double standards are supported by feminists show that feminists believe that the only way to achieve so called "equality" is by establishing double standards ?

But if there are double standards, how can that be called equality ?

  1. ...your misconceptions stem from hate campaigns waged by Rush Limbaugh on behalf of the Republican Party, and its decades long struggle to take over the country.

He had a venue (his tv show) and decided one group at a time, to discredit each of the segments of people who typically voted democrat (environmentalists, women, g**s most notably)...he'd get on tv each day (with his audience full of buffoons("dittohads", they called themselves) and he'd coin a new hate phrase for America

    1)Feminazis

    2)Tree huggers

    etcetera...

Along with this start, and then the FOX network becoming prevalent, the deal was sealed, and so now any hate-filled RUBBISH that the RNC wanted to put out , they could just script it , and call it news, and all the parrotheaded nobodies in life will repeat, and so passively come to beleive it even as true.

( If you knew what feminism actually was, you'd be ashamed)

But this is what's been going on, and I'm very unhappy, because they've got the women themselves parrotting the mean BS's that are being put out against them, FOR the jerks that are putting it out!

(Jimmy KImmel tried to trick women into signing petitions against women's suffrage, on the man show - remember that?

Oh I like titties too, but I have a mother, and a sister, and I think women are wonderful creatures. And I couldnt live with myself if I pulled mean tricks against them.

I mean it cause ignorance to fester and become in a society, like starting a disease.

Would you honestly deny your sister to get to be what she wants to be in life? (If you got a sister)?

Would you be in favor of your mom being slapped and told to go make cookies?

I'm gonna give you this. It's something someone prepared to show the women now who say they arent "feminist" how ignorant of their own history, and silly and ungrateful they may actually be...

                    " I'M NOT A FEMINIST BUT...

I appreciate the right to help chose my government representatives.

I enjoy the option of wearing pants or shorts if I want.

I'm pleased that I was allowed to learn to read and write.

It can be very convenient to control how many babies I want to have.

It's awfully useful to be able to open a bank account, and own property in my name.

I like knowing that my husband or boyfriend cannot legally beat me.

It's really swell to keep the money I earn.

Any idea how BAD we treated women in the past? All those things were really denied them, and more (in the late 19th century if a woman was having orgasms, or wanting them, or found masturbating, she was taken to the doctor and declaredf "hysterical" (a medical condition, they said).

(Just like at the time there was a medical condition in the books that explained that black slaves were actually suffering a form of insanity, for wanting to escape and have freedom.)

Women were considered legally MENTALLY INCOMPETENT(in the way an infant or an Alzheimer's patient is) and so were unallowed to own things, or testify in court (even for themself).

It was a pretty ugly damned world.

And the story of how some women(and men) got together and fought for 70 years to right some of these wrongs, is a favorite of mine.

It shows some people having a spine ! And I ADMIRE that!

Anyway...if I'm a guy and I feel this passionate about it, maybe you can understand why there are women out there who are all wrapped up in the area of women's interests (and you can call that "feminism"), and then along comes some locker-room humor mentalitied male, telling them theyre hairy manhating lesbians...(well you didnt say THAT, here, but- its what typically gets said.

Just try and understand that there are people who latch onto a cause to work in as their identity. Are they doing harm? No!

Is it wise OR compassionate to put them down? NOOO!

  2. I thought the point of your question is to establish that feminists use words to paint a woman's action more positively than a man's action. But the "being firm" vs. "being bitchy" one doesn't support that at all. Being firm is much more positive than being bitchy.

No doubt some women are guilty of what you charge. But so are many men. The firm/bitchy example is one case. But there are many others - a man who sleeps around is seen much more positively than a woman who does the same. A man who does manual labor is seen more positively than a woman who does manual labor (although this seems to be changing somewhat.)

The fact that double standards are supported by some members of a group is not evidence that they are supported by all members of the group. It is a logical fallacy to conclude "(all) feminists support double standards" from "(some) feminists support double standards." Interestingly, since some men also support double standards, your logic would indict men as well. And of course, if that is a fallacy, it is also a fallacy to conclude that "(all) feminists believe that the only way to achieve 'equality' is by establishing double standards" from "(some) feminists support double standards."

In fact, it doesn't even follow from "(some) feminists support double standards" that "(some) feminists believe the way to achieve equality is through using double standards." It could very well be the case that feminists who favor double standards don't care to achieve equality.

Feminists who support double standards would, obviously, not be feminists who support equality, and confusing the two groups seems to be at the heart of your confusion.

Penelope S said everything I said. but in three sentences. :)

  3. haha...I thin kyou're bizarre views will be why you can't get a girlfriend. Well done in publically humilating yourself and making yourself look absolutely ridiculous. have a peanut!

  4. =I say both men and women are stubborn-I never say determined.

=I say both men and women are being itchy not firm.

=I don't call guys dead beat dads or women dead beat moms or call them both jerks and I say women have the right to figure out with their doctor what the right thing is to do for their bodies-and the same goes for men.

=Some of those things are said by non-feminists, feminists and probably feminists and this proves what exactly? That people say inconsistent things-and this is news?

I'm a feminist and think it's cool to strive for equal opportunities for men and women in politics and economics and society at large-you can call it whatever you like.

  5. Feminists support double standards? What? I think feminists detest these double standards. At least I do. Where the f*** are you coming from?

  6. The examples you cite are arbitrarily chosen, and appear to be neither those of society, nor feminism.  What feminist considers a man "firm" and a woman "bitchy" ?  They also are not, by definition "double standards."  The opposite of "dead beat dad" would be "dead beat mom."

  7. It's beyond obvious- women don't want 'equality', women want to whine men into acquiescence or relinquishing men's fair (objectively allocated) share.

  8. Where are the "facts" that these "double standards" are supported by feminists?

  9. Who the h**l said I supported double standards? Please get your fact straight. One type does not describe all.

  10. Go back to school. Your question is full of nonsense.

  11. Good luck trying them to admit that.

  12. Feminism is not all one movement, and not all feminists are the same. Some support double standards.

Some democrats support the death penalty. Not all democrats support the death penalty.

Some republicans support civil rights for lesbians, g**s, bisexuals and transgenders. Not all republicans support LGBT civil rights.

Within a group, there are still differences of opinion.

  13. men dominated for millions of years and now that women have some power, still far less then men, men complain and nit pick.

    how sad.

  14. But the whole world used double standards all the time.

Example: parent tells their child not to swear, and then goes and says a string of swear words.

Example: Politican attacks his rival for having s*x with a prostitute because it's s*x out of marriage, then that night, goes and visits his lover.

Being hypocritical is not just limited to feminists.

  15. I don't believe those are true feminists.

  16. Cutting to the chase; a double standard is nothing but that; a double standard.  Equality is nothing but that equality; never shall the two meet; it means trouble.

  17. we dont want to be better...just equal. true feminists dont support dubble standards. those double standards go both ways. and they're all c**p

  18. troll

  19. Good luck trying to figure feminists out.

  20. feminists may be misguided but that's not the point of feminism. Also, their support of double standards is just a propaganda to inspire women and demean men so that they are guilt tripped into giving in. However I do have qualms about your last double standard. It's different for a man to abandon an impregnated partner than a woman to choose abortion. He's not the one carrying the baby. Also, statistically, a man who's divorced from a family or leaves his female counterpart with children, he GENERALLY has a higher standard of living and statistically, more women with children after a divorce go into poverty. Those statistics may be equivocal, but my point is that the topic of children can't really be approached by feminism. There are different standards to it especially since each gender has their own different set of complications which are entirely different from each other. Otherwise, I agree that applying the double standard is a wayward way for achieving equality. But I'm pretty sure feminists today aren't preaching equality. They're preaching that women are just better and have an excuse for it.

  21. Lets see I have never said that a man or a women for that fact was either determined or stubborn.  Your other two comments are ridiculous.  Why would feminist want a double standard that said men were firm and women bitchy?  I think that is a standard other people use.  A man who does not support his children and a women having an abortion (maybe to avoid dealing with the non-paying father are not even in close proximity to one another.  Maybe you create and support these double standards but no feminist I know does that.

  22. Feminism doesn't double as "the language police," nor does it "establish" people's perceptions or prejudices.

  23. You can't pull stuff outta your asz and call it fact.  Or get it from those bonehead websites, which is the same thing.
