Since it's Father's Day, does being a man of integrity still matter?

You wonder sometimes, because most men who live their lives with dignity, honor, and honesty, are often seen as being "boring".

So what do you think? Does being a good father and husband actually matter anymore, or are men of character a thing of the past? Should men just sell out and do whatever they want regardless of the consequences?

Let's face it . . . there just aren't a lot of women out there who view a good father/husband as being s**y.

  1. Being "a man of integrity" does not now, nor has it EVER really mattered (except to self-styled 'men of integrity').  Integrity is one of those dubious personality qualities whose definition is typically extremely personal, since all it is is an internal consistency based on an individual's personal notions of morality. For goodness sake, Hitler could be described as a "man of integrity", he knew what he believed, he said it out loud, and he acted consistently with his beliefs!

  2. My dad died last year; this is my first Father's Day without him.

If I ever found a man who could match him for character/integrity, honor, responsibility, humor, and, yes, nurturing--I would marry that man on the spot.

I have broken up with several very "s**y" guys because they had none of the qualities mentioned above.

A s**y boy, no matter his age, is a poor substitute for a man of integrity.  (The same goes for s**y girls vs. women in my book BTW.)

  3. Yes, but you don t need to be a father to be a man of integrity.

  4. I think they are seen as boring to young, inexperienced individuals.  I think most women would love to have such a man and most men wish to be them.  I feel very lucky to have married such a man, and yes....him being a wonderful husband makes him very s**y.

I think the majority of men are good fathers and good husbands.  But it is what they SHOULD be, so it is not much to talk about.  People are more entertained with the gossip of shameful acts than the those with integrity.
