Since it has now been established that you do not have to stay behind the pace car, what is the point?

I mean if the pace car means nothing, why put it out there. Why not just establish a maximum caution speed? Or do only 42 of the cars have to respect the pace car?

Well when cars are given the lucky dog pass they get to pass the pace car and speed around the track to make their lap back up. Maybe it's not that big of a safety issue to NASCAR and it's more of a big deal to anti Jr fans.

I think the idea of the pace car anyway is just to line the cars back up anyway and help cycle through the pits with lead lap and lap down cars pitting efficiently. It's not detrimental to the sport if a car pulls up beside a pace car.

Actually, I kinda thought the same thing you did. It obviously isnt a steadfast rule you cant pass it. NASCAR said the rule states that the rules said you have to maintain a safe speed and not pass other cars.

Since Jr was leading the first part did not apply, and I guess he wasnt going too fast, but then whats the point of the pace car. Just set a speed limit like on pit road.

To all the Jr fans who say he stopped when he was warned, read a bit. He was warned, he did it again then got threatened with a black flag, then stopped. If he doesnt race ahead to give him space to cut off the engine who knows if he even makes it long enough to get to the caution.

Putting a pace car out there is a good way to see the different varities of new cars.  In addition, they do sometimes become collectible.

Maybe you'll see the pace car from last weeks race at Barrett Jackson and you can make a bid on it (as the pace car that Jr. passed)  but let it go until it's up on the auction block...

He was  trying to get fuel to stay in the rear of the tank by speeding up and causing the fuel to go to the rear of the tank so the fuel pump could pick up the fuel. If the sports announcers were worth a c**p they would have pointed that out and there would be no whining from people who didn't want Dale Earnhardt to win.

Dude will you freakin let it go. It's almost been a week. All your whining and being a baby won't change the fact that Jr. won. They warned him, just like they would do ANY driver. After they warned him, he stopped. Quit crying and get over it.

It's over already, Biffle won and crossed the line 3rd last year, these things happen and it's not a conspiracy, if Nascar loved Dale Jr., he wouldn't have been winless since 2006.
