The US has the best and toughest prison system in the world, where as the UK prisons are little more than 2 star hotels, with the scum reoffending just to get back inside.

  1. We were hoping that we could outsource our prisoners off to you.

  2. We have privately run prisons here, as well as the usual ones. UK law might allow for privately run prisons, too.

  3. Truth is Turkish prisons are much tougher. They believe in hands on discipline. Here in the states the Prisoners seem to have more rights than the poor guy living in a shelter.

Hotpink, when you grow up a little bit then you may have the right to be wrong and criticize me. When was the last time any homeless man was given Viagra? Yet the prisoners get conjugal visits, do you know what that means? They can even get married while in prison. We have paid for some of them to get married while on death row. Now run away little girl, you bother me.

  4. Let's see...we have five percent of the world's population yet we have almost a quarter of the world's prisoners...2.3 million behind bars, what the h**l, send a few more over to join the party!

EDIT--about Ollie up there, he doesn't know what he's talking about, prisoners don't have more rights than the homeless.  Let's see if he'd get his Geritol and Viagra if he were incarcerated.

EDIT2- Go take your Viagra, Ollie, minimum security prisoners get congual visits, maximum security prisoners are lucky if they get their correct medications, which is probably why they are incarcerated in the first place...homeless can go to any emergency room and get treatment.  It's people like you who are part of the problem, definately not the solution.

  5. nope, prisons are pretty weak here.  send them to a real prison in a developing country were its bread, water, dirty conditions, and a daily beating.

  6. Some parts of the US would love the economic boon of prisons, especially for light to medium security facilities (maximum security prisons is a bit of a worry for the neighbors).

However, the age of transporting criminals overseas is long past.  The travel costs alone for cases of appeals, parole hearings, and new criminal charges (assault, escape attempts, etc, while in prison) would be staggering.
