I have yet to figur out how you are going to build your own roads, your own water system, your own power company, your own sanitation system, public transportation system, your own military, police and fire departments. Good luck. Forget about social security and health Care. No Medicaid nursing home for mom. Let her stay at your home to die with no government sponsored nursing care.

  1. It would be a paradise.  Just like it was in the late 1920's and early 1930's.

Oh, umm, I guess that was the Great Depression, mebbe that wouldn't be so good.

  2. I have no problem paying taxes for things that the country needs to survive (infrastructure, military, and yes even politicians and bureaucrats).

I do, however, have a problem with tax money being taken out of my pocket to pay for some welfare mom to sit on her butt and pump out more kids. Nevermind the fact that they aren't drug tested to take my money, but I have to have drug tests to make that money.

I do have a problem paying for a child's health care that is not mine. I did not bring the child into the world. I did not make a decision to have a child when I couldn't afford to care for it. Not my problem.

I do have a problem when billions of tax dollars are sent to Africa and wasted on a continent and people who do nothing to better themselves. I say let them die.

Forget social security? Already forgotten thanks to LBJ and his putting it in the general fund. I am paying for something that I will never receive. Or even worse yet, if I do get it, it will be prorated because I looked at the long term and took money out of my pocket to put into a 401K.

"Let her stay at your home to die with no government sponsored nursing care."

Isn't that the way it is supposed to work?

  3. I don't think that anyone minds paying taxes for infrastructure.  What we mind is the excessive taxation and waste that comes with a mega government.

This mega government has to justify it's existance, so it comes up with even more ways to micromanage us and  more ways to spend our money.

You add to this all the pork that is attached to any bill that goes through Congress, and pretty soon, you have so much money spent on so many things that the people have no idea where their money goes.

We are a generous people, and we will give a lot to any good cause, but when we have no clue why the government needs more money, because we are not seeing any improvement in the quality of life, ours or the unfortionate people in our communities, we have to wonder if throwing good money after bad is the way to do things.

All of us want to see people who fall on hard times have a safety net. We all want a good education for our children. We all want accessable health care.

All of us want to be capable of defending our country, we all want secure borders, and we all want to be able to maintain our standard of living and be safe in our homes.

The only things we differ on are the best ways to do this.

My opinion is that expecting that more big government programs are going to make it better is foolish.  They havn't made anything better yet, the bigger the program, the more expensive it is, and the less efficient it is.  Throwing more money at the problem isn't going to make it better either, all it will do is give corrupt politicians more to steal.

Others think that if we give a bigger government more power and more money, that will improve things.

Our country owes it's identity, in large measure to the thoughts of Ralph Waldo Emerson.

It would be a good thing if we were to all read, once again what he wrote on the concept of being true to and taking care of yourself.

  4. i don't mind paying for roads, sanitation, military.but i do not like paying for my sis and her boyfriend to set home and drink and do drugs all day. there only problem is there lazy. i don't mind paying for there kids to eat. but they sell there food stamps for beer and drugs. and then my mom and i still end up feeding them.and most of the people i know getting public assistance are like my sis. some don't us drugs and drink. but there still lazy and rather sit home and wait on that check each month.

  5. I have probems with illegal people takeing my hard earned money.  Yes this is a problem, and no, the government does not take care of the money they way it should (welfare rates are rediculous and many people abuse the system).

We do however all drive on the roads, make use of the police and fire departments, enjoy state funded parks and recreational areas.  If you look out your window and everything is a mess... then your taxes are not being used properly and you should argue your rights.  If your streets are paved, you have lighting on the streets so you can see, your waste goes into the public waste management system, your garbage and recyclables are collected... then you have no reason to complain about where you tax money goes.  Think beyond buying yourself that new tv.

  6. I don't think I know enough people (nevermind enough willing to do so) to chip-in to buy the tanks, ships, and planes we need to defend the country.

  7. Corrupt people love taxes as it fills their coffers. This nation was founded from a war started over corrupt people greedily taxing to fill their coffers.

  8. It's not that people don't want to pay taxes...they just don't want to pay taxes for loans the politicians make and co-sign our name to repay. Say what! That's not legal, is it?

America got along just fine for the first 150 years, it only been since the 20th century that the criminal element in government has legalized their corruption.
