  1. Just answering to support Penney Lee.  Absolutely, Onions make seeds.  You aren't paying attention!!

  2. Onions do have seeds, but it takes so long to grow them from seed that most people just get what's called "onion sets", small onion bulbs that you plant to get big onions. These were grown from seeds planted last year. If you let onions grow long enough, they'll get flowers, then go to seed.

  3. Actually, if I recall the onion plants will get a little bulb on top ( if left to grow that long) and this is a group of seeds. You can dry out this plant and replant the seeds, or else do nothing and it will die off with the first frost and those seeds will bring forth new onions next year.

We began this ( when I was a child) by planting our onion plants as bulbs ( started plants) and those we did not pull & use throughout the summer ended up with seeds on top by early July ( if I remember correctly).

You can even snipp the seeded bulb and a new one will grow back, dry out the one you snipped and save those seeds or start them indoors for next year.
