Question:

Since so many Western Conference teams have improved, isn't the Eastern Conference screwed?

The Clippers are much improved with BDiddy, M. Camby, Jason Williams, Ricky Davis, and Eric Gordon. The Blazers are much improved with Greg Oden and Bayless. The Rockets will now win even more games with Ron Artest. The Lakers are getting back Bynum, which should help them hold a strong record. Even the Timberwolves got stronger with the addition of Kevin Love and Mike Miller. Since most Eastern teams haven't improved (except for the Sixers), it seems like the Eastern conference will do even more horrible then last year.

  1. -76ers vastly Improved

    -Raptors Improved

    -Cavs slightly Improved

    -Bucks slightly Improved

-Heat Improved (Have a Healthy D-Wade and Marion for whole season, and not to mention Beasley.

-Wizards will be improved, with Arenas healthy

It only takes one team out of the Conference to win a title, and the East have actually won more titles here of late, you do the math..Pistons, Heat, Celtics all won championships since 04'

  2. The point is the Champions reside in the East and by far they will be the yardstick of the whole NBA. Also remember that the top two teams in the league actually came from the East.

Clippers didn't improve, they downgraded. Imagine losing Brand for Camby? I don't see any upgrade there... Ricky Davis and Jason Williams came from the worst team in recent years.

Actually the best move happened for the East with Brand joining the Sixers, I don't know why Oden makes a big deal, He isn't that great in college and is making average numbers for a center. And if addition of high quality rookies are in question the East had the top two picks to swing the balance of power for the rookies.

West may have the better teams on paper but don't disqualify the Eastern teams because most certainly the East can give them a run for their money.

    Hope this helps.

  3. The only team that's screwed is the Bucks

  4. thats good for the east because they have an easier route to the nba finals and will be more rested than the western teams who beat each other up in all rounds of the playoffs while teams like the celtics can usually coast through to the finals while the western teams have hard opponents in every round. the east is a joke of a conference. only the top 3 or so teams have a legit chance at winning a title.

  5. Not only did the Sixers improve, the Chicago Bulls improved (with the addition of Derrick Rose), as well as the Miami Heat (with Michael Beasley), the Milwaukee Bucks (with Jefferson), The New Jersey Nets (with Lopez, Yi and Simmons), The Toronto Raptors (with O'Neal), the Cleveland Cavaliers (with Mo Williams), etc. The West is still stronger, but the East is slowly improving. Don't forget that the East won the past championship, and the past all-star game as well.

  6. In no way does it mean the East is screwed.

  7. Funny thing is, even though the west has many superior teams than the east, the east still won the championship last year with the boston celtics! so, obviously the few teams that are actually talented in the east, such as the pistons, celtics, cavs... (only bcuz of LBJ), heat (if d-wade makes a comeback with shawn marion), and maybe the magic, and 76ers this year, i think the playoffs will still be fun to watch! and the west is getting even stronger as you said with rockets getting artest, lakers getting bynum, blazers getting oden, clips b-diddy, so its going to be an exciting up-coming season!

  8. NO They have a 4 Good Powerhouses like Boston, Orlando, Cleveland, and Detroit, watch-out for Toronto They got Bosh and Jermaine O'neal and what you Mentioned the Sixers, everyone else out East will just be lucky to get in the Playoffs.

  9. The eastern conference is just a weak conference. I mean you had team with less than a .500 make the playoffs the past year. The eastern conference is more like a conference for teams in a rebuilding stage. Yet they still have some great teams such as the Pistons, Celtics, Magic, and now 76ers.

  10. The Eastern Conference has been screwed since the day MJ left the Bulls,  only 3 eastern teams have won since, and those Eastern wins could of been altered by Refs for all we know, for sure the 2006 Finals was fixed, you'd have to be a complete ignorant moron if you still in denial and don't accept the fact  that the refs helped Dwhistle.  2008 Finals officiating was also pretty $hitty, I think the Pistons winning in 2004 was a rightfully earned Eastern championship, ever since 2005 NBA Finals loss, they've been getting screwed in their conference finals since.

  11. the Eastern Conference is going to move down to the D-league so that they can actually win game there.

    no xtina, no.

  12. Western conference is always better than Eastern conference.

  13. i think only east teams with a chance: boston detroit

  14. yes...

the only two wickedly competing "teams" in the east are Boston and Detroit... i hate the other teams in the east because they don't improve their frontcourt... and others are soft...  not much physicality and passion... cavs and magic are soft and afraid of injuries... wizards can't find a way to move on the second round... the raps; i hope they gain physicality with o'neal with the lineup... hawks is a mediocre team... bucks and bobcats... i hope they improve...

  15. I don't know if the Clippers improved all that much.  They picked up Baron, but Brand and Maggette are gone.  I realize Brand and Kaman didn't play much last season, so they should be improved, but not much more than a .500 team.  Houston will be nice if they can stay healthy.  But a lot will come down to the chemistry and how well the team meshes.  Blazers, no doubt, will be the most improved team.  But they are probably another year or 2 away from being a true threat.

Some of the East teams have improved as well.  Brand going to the Sixers is a huge move.  They should have a really nice squad next season.  Orlando picked up Pietrus. Not a major addition, but they are a team on the rise with Howard leading the charge.  Arenas will be back for the entire season.  Lebron will have another year of experience under his belt.  Jermaine O'neal will form a sweet front court alongside Bosh in Toronto.  And the Celtics, well, they are still the single best team and the reigning champs.  Not to mention Detroit, a young Hawks team and an improved Miami.

However, I get your point. The west is still the superior overall conference by a wide margin.   But, that might not be to their benefit come playoff time.  While the west is beating the h**l out of each other, the east contenders will have a much easier path to the finals.

  16. The western conference has more teams that are good but it seems like you forgot that the best team in the nba is in the east. Someone has to beat boston... LA is the best in the west and they proved that they are better. Even with bynum LA didnt stand a chance
