  4. The thing is that "mamma mia" is a Swedish expression (as well as an Italian one). It's used in about the same way as "Oh my god!" in English.

    Example:

    "Mamma mia, vad tungt pianot var!"

    Translation:

    "Oh my god! That was one heavy piano!"

    I think they used it because it's exotic and at the same time international.
