I know it is legal so don't tell me its not just because you haven't heard! Also I heard the brands getting through are not as potent as those in other parts of Europe, is that true too? But mainly where can I find it, even the stuff maybe not made with wormwood. Im in Dallas, TX so the closer to there the better.

  1. What's legal is basically a thujone free version.  Most of the liquor stores I've been to carry one brand or another.   http://www.wormwoodsociety.org/index.php...

"so don't tell me its not just because you haven't heard!" Perhaps before you go off on people trying to help, you should ensure you understand the law.

  2. You sound like you're blind... hehehe

  3. Well for one thing it has to be made with Wormwood of course, otherwise it's not truly Absinthe.

    But there's a problem...

It's legal status is somewhat questionable or shady. Similar to radar detectors (a good example).

Basically it's legal to possess, distribute and consume. Unfortunately it is not (as of yet) legal to directly retail.

If you want the good stuff you have to order online. You want the real deal, which comes from Czekoslovakia and their many native wormwood plants.

Is one such site to order and learn about absinthe from, but there are others too. So check around.

I suggest you read up on the differing ways to serve it. It's a horrid tasting drink, so you need to muddle it with some honey or sugar.

But ordering it from overseas is the only way to procur it unfortunately, as of yet I am unaware of any US manufacturers. Dallas or otherwise.

good luck! beware the green fairy ;)

  4. Absinthe Lounge

    Dallas, TX

From the website: "UPDATE: Absinthe is back -  And yes, we have it here at Absinthe Lounge!!!"

  5. "Also I heard the brands getting through are not as potent as those in other parts of Europe, is that true too?"

100% Yes. According to the FDA, alcoholic beverages must be thujone-free pursuant to 21 CFR 172.510. There are now Euro versions and "thujone free" versions of the same brand! So watch out!

The ones with a good measure of wormwood like Roquette 1797 or the max wormwood brands like Century Absinthe can only be ordered online.

The only stuff you will find sold in shops in Texas are thujone free. Sorry :-(
