Since the ozarks are one of the oldest mountain ranges in the united states, is their any gold in them?

  1. Several variant searches suggest the only gold in them thar hills is apples or drink.  East to Georgia or west to Rockies it looks like.

  2. The age of the mountains, or formation, has little to do with the presence or absence of gold. Gold is usually found in hard rock after being deposited by hydrothermal fluids. Think volcanic activity but not quite that hot.

    I don't know the specific history of the Ozarks so there may have been some historic mining there but I don't think so. If you are looking to pan gold on your own, northern California is the place to be. Try searching on the American River and you should find lots of info. If you're looking for more substantial gold deposits in the US, Nevada, Utah, and Alaska are where it's at. There might be deposits elsewhere but the laws in those states make them very friendly to mining.
