  1. I think the call on Holmstrom was a make up call for the goalie interferance they didn't call a couple of minutes before.  I really wish the referees could talk to the media after a game.  The players and coaches have to explain their actions,  why not the refs too?

    1.  It costs about the same to fill my Toyota, I remember when I could fill it for less than $25.  Here in Canada we are heading into a long weekend, you know where gas prices are going.

    2.  Mother Nature has been in a bad mood for a while.  She dumped more than 9 feet of snow on my neighbourhood this winter.  My husband finally felt brave enough to put the shovels away the other day.  He taunted her, now she's ticked again!

    3. No vegetarians here however, I am supposed to eat a low protein diet.

    4.  We have a spot on our lawn that doesn't grow, we call it our crop circle.  No idea how to fix it.  My father in law says it has something to do with grubs.  You have to dig it out and do a whole lot of other stuff (I really wasn't listening).  My husband figures that if it doesn't grow he doesn't have to cut it!  It means he is a few minutes closer to the post lawn cutting beer!  Besides the kids will wreck the rest of the lawn anyway.

  2. I was reading a book while watching the game with one eye and saw that goal.  I felt it was a goal, but I have not seen the replay.  I’ll check it out on youtube later.

    1) I spend about the same filling my Audi A3.  It is getting pretty darn pricy.  Some people say that we don’t have enough oil refineries and others say we need to stop being dependant on foreign oil and others say the gas companies are making too much profit.  Without actually working within the industry, I am not willing to take a guess on what is the actually reason for the price of gas.  It doesn’t affect me that much.

    2) I am the furthest person from being a tree hugger, but I do believe this earth has a life of its own.  If it does not want us here, then we’ll all die.  Also, scientists predict MANY things that do not happen.  I am not one to fret over things that are out of my control.

    3) Sorry, but I do eat animals.  I do know that of I were to take a tour of a slaughter house I would never eat meat again.  I saw a video once when I was a little kid about how chickens come out of an egg.  It horrified me so much, that I have not eaten an egg since I was 6 years old. So, I guess I could say, I know where you come from……..

    4) Put a birdbath there.

  3. There has been a lot of talk about players in the crease this playoff year and I just don't know why! I thought the crease rule was no longer in effect. I was under the impression that a player could enter the crease all he wanted  as long as he does not interfere with the goalie.

  4. What I don't get is how of all the goals Holmstrom is in front they wave off the one he is a foot outside the crease. I will admit the Wings deserve to have some called back, but that one was just uncalled for.  I would even go so far as to say that was a worse blown call than the no goal in Pit/Philly game 2 because it had an actual impact on the outcome.

Either way the Wings will win in game 5 because Turco can not win in Detroit.

    1. At least you are smart enough to have a car good on gas.  I laugh at people who whine about gaas prices but drive trucks and suvs.

    2. I haven't really heard a lot of the usual Armeggedon blather about this stuff for some reaosn which is odd. It might help reduce death tolls if a) The facist governments in those countries didn't sieze any aid the UN or US sends them or b) if the coutries weren't so overpopulated that even a mild force earthquake can knock over an apartment building and kill the 8 million people crammed inside it.

    3. I lost respekt for you right then. Just a tad.

    4. a) you have a dog that frequents that spot a lot b) Indian burial ground.

  5. That was such bull c**p I cant even say anymore- I will get kicked off yahoo for the way I feel about that.

  6. NHL can change rules on the fly, see 1999 Finals

    1) I am past the point of complaining about gas prices.  Not much I can do.

    2) It is a sign telling other nations that soccer sucks

    3) Love my veggies, but I am looking forward to throwing a few slabs of baby-backs on the old smoker and I am trying a new baked beans receipe with those.  Yummy!

    4) Are you on septic or sewer?  I am on septic in a 2 year old home with some funky grass over the septic area.

  7. I don't know if it was consciously a make-up call, but it was certainly a reputation call.  Does that get called if it is Datzyuk or Morrow or Lidstrom there?  No.

While it was, unquestionably, a poorly called game in many respects, it simply goes back to what I said a couple weeks ago ---- sometimes you get the calls and sometimes you don't, and you have to put yourself in a position where those calls cannot cost you a game or a series.  The Wings were in a position where a few bad calls couldn't cost them the series, but they did allow it to cost them the game by not taking care of business when they should have -- power plays where open nets are missed, turnovers in the zone, etc.

The second goal, where the puck slid in with the goalie, I'm not as upset about.  I wish the refs would make sure the puck is covered before they blow the whistle, not immedately reach for it when they cannot see the puck - after all, there are two refs and maybe the other say it fine, but at least that one is called consistently.  The Holmstrom call was a reputation call, and that's a shame -- but like Babcock said, it happens, and you have to move on.  The Wings have had their share of lucky calls too ----

I would like to see the refs more consistent on the interference (which should only apply in the crease), or make it a reveiwable play.

But the Wings should have overcome it, they didn't, and we have a game 5.  Playoffs, gotta love it, right?

You are right, the Wings were a bit flat ---- I think that often the home team down 0-3 wins game 4, only to lose it in the 5th, so that's why a lot of people pick 5-game finishes.

  8. I didn't get to see the game last night - working - so I didn't see the play. I was surprised to hear the Wings lost though.

Cost me almost $50 in gas last night  for my Mazda 6 and it wasn't even full.  Gas is 3.90 around Cincinnati.  It is supposed to be close to $5 by Labor Day. I'm gonna have to walk to work.

As far as the small dead spot in your grass, have you checked for grubs? Lift up some of the dead grass and see if any of those things are down there.  That happened to me a few years back. Scotts Grub killer works great. - Good luck with that.

  9. It was a c**p call that changed, IMHO, the momentum of the game.

    1.  I have pulled my bike out of the shed.  It's me and my Giant from here on out, unless I have to go more than 10 miles.

    2.  I blame congress.

    3.  I like veggies . . . .with my steak.

    4.  Stop peeing on your lawn.

  10. It was a dodgy call, and you are probably right that it was a make up for the one they let go before.  Sad that maybe we were robbed of an overtime, but I was pleased the Stars got a good game out of it.  If the Wings are properly organized on Saturday the Stars won't have to endure the kind of abuse they got during the game before last from spectators at their own arena.

Blame Congress anyway - Mother Nature wants things fixed on Global Warming!  Has anyone figured out how to get help to Myanmar without their govt nicking it all?

Not a veggie myself, but entertain several - fun  recipes, though they still seem to like the ones I normally cook with the meat omitted - I do a mean mushroom stroganoff!

  11. Homer got stiffed dont matter Wings win on Saturday. Maybe he interferred with Turco by farting.

  12. Not one, but TWO disallowed goals...the second was when the wings rushed the net and once again the refs blow the whistle before the play was over....supports my theory that the league will do whatever it takes to 1) keep a series going as long as possible (money) and 2) they need to do whatever it takes to slow the Wings down

I will be really pissed if they do the same thing they did last year (give the cup to the Ducks) and hand the cup to Crosby.

    1) I bought a 1996 ford Aspire for $625 and it gets 40mpg...keep my Mustang and Exploder in the garage...wife walk 1/4 mile to work.

2)God's way of weeding out the masses.

    3)I love steak too much.

4)Soil may need to be removed and replaced...who knows what happened and what kind of chemicals were put down...just take the dirt from the neighbor's lawn in the middle of the night.

  13. i am not a Wings fan but that was a very very very bad call, would be interesting to see if that ref gets anymore games

    1. i just paid $90 to fill my Montana van(Pontiac)

    2. and another Clyclone on the way over therer too, yep, she is very pissed at something.

    3. no veggie here

    4. try digging it up, throw some new soil there and some grass seeds, see what happens
