Question:

Since when is climate change no longer a natural phenomenon?

Sane people know that the climate is supposed to change continuously, and that the climate has never stayed the same over longer periods of time. Climate change is a natural phenomenon and it controls us, not the other way 'round.

Temperature monitors report worldwide global cooling. In another blow to the global warming alarmists (mostly lying left wing extremists) temperature monitors are clearly showing that we are in fact experiencing a much cooler temperature.

The only thing we can do re: climate change is to adapt, because it is impossible to stop this natural phenomenon.

  1. I'm tired of these ridiculous conspiracy theories. How stupid do you think people are to spend all this time, money and effort on this issue if they weren't extremely confident it was happening? Are you really naive enough to think that the geniuses working on this issue haven't thought hard about solar output and ruled it out? Are you that scientifically illiterate or statistically challenged to think that short periods of cold weather instantly rule out a longer trend? Does it give you the slightest hesitancy or compunction to realize that almost no serious climate scientists agree with you?

  2. Really, you shouldn't confuse climate change with climate variability.  See here for a thorough explanation of the difference:

    Carry on.

  3. Come on guys why would governments, scientific institutions, universities, and many other organizations all over the world be spending millions of dollars to find ways to combat global warming if it wasn't a real problem.

  4. You got it right. The way that fossil fuels are created is the CO2 to the plants. Photosynthesis  with sun gives us back the O2 and the plant keeps the C. Later the C in the leaves wash down the rivers to the delta where it changes into gas & oil.

  5. Since humans started emitting large amounts of CO2 (a greenhouse gas) by burning fossil fuels.

A better question would be 'since when do increased levels of greenhouse gases not cause warming?' (which is what you're suggesting).  Just because the climate changes naturally does not mean we cannot cause it to change.  That's a logical fallacy.

Your DailyTech article is amateurish and wrong, as discussed here:

One cool month (due to a strong La Nina cycle) does not mean global warming has magically disappeared.  In fact, using that logic, the planet just started warming rapidly again:

There are many basic scientific facts which can only be explained if the current global warming is being caused by an increased greenhouse effect due to carbon dioxide accumulating in the atmosphere from humans burning fossil fuels.

For example, the planet is warming as much or more during the night than day.  If the warming were due to the Sun, the planet should warm a lot more during the day when the Sun has influence.  Greenhouse gases trap heat all the time, so they warm the planet regardless of time of day.  Another example is that the upper atmosphere is cooling because the greenhouse gases trap the heat in the lower atmosphere.  If warming were due to the Sun, it would be warming all layers of the atmosphere.

Basically to know what's happening with our climate you need to do a bit more research than just saying "climate has changed naturally before".  Believe it or not, climate scientists have considered this fact.

  6. First of all,  climate change takes millions of years to happen...

Secondly, I don't think people quite understand. Global warming and global freezing are the same thing. There is a hole in the ozone layer and you know who caused it? humans! I have been informed by my brother and friends so it up to the people whether to believe it or not. All I know is it's spring & yesterday it was 54º outside!

  7. The same time forest fires were no longer exclusively a "natural phenomenon".  That would be when human activities started being the cause.

Climate change can be caused by both natural causes (as often occurring in the past) and human causes (as is occurring in the present).  And it can even be a combination of the two (another similar example would be when lightening starts one forest fire and a careless camper starts another near by).

Temperature monitors are not reporting a worldwide "global cooling".  The last 2 months (January and February) were both still well above the 30 year average from 1880 - 1909 by 0.47 C and 0.61 C respectively.  And they were both above the baseline average from 1951 - 1980.  Since climate is about 30 year averages, there's no way any scientist would classify this as global cooling.

  8. Global warming might be a naturally occurring phenomena, however, humans ARE impacting the cycle. There is absolutely NO way that all of our technology, cars and factories couldn't contribute in a negative way.

And if one has half a brain in their ***, one would know that global warming leads to global cooling-- so yeah, the climate might be getting cooler, but that isn't necessarily a good thing. :/

  9. Warming has always brought prosperity.  Cooling has always brought catastrophe.  Suddenly, we are supposed to hope the world doesn't warm a few degrees.  There are benefits and negative consequences for everything.  The problem with the global warming doomsday cult is that they exaggerate the negative consequences and underestimate the benefits in a rediculous way that exposes their real agenda and bias.

  10. It's politics.  Natural climate change was outlawed in the same bill in Congress that created the Internet, which as we al know was introduced by Al Gore.

  11. It started to be a joint enterprise between man and nature about 1900.  About 1950, we took over.  Solid proof:

Meehl, G.A., W.M. Washington, C.A. Ammann, J.M. Arblaster, T.M.L. Wigleym and C. Tebaldi (2004). "Combinations of Natural and Anthropogenic Forcings in Twentieth-Century Climate". Journal of Climate 17: 3721-3727

    summarized at:

    http://www.globalwarmingart.com/wiki/Ima...

And hundreds of other peer reviewed studies.

There is no "global cooling", just a below average winter.  It happened in 1982, 1991-1992, 1999-2000.  EVERY TIME global warming came back stronger than ever.  Proof.

    http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/2007/

The scientific proof that this is not natural is overwhelming.  Which is why there's a lot less controversy about this is the real world than there is on Yahoo answers:

    http://www.worldpublicopinion.org/pipa/a...

And vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:

    http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/fu...

  12. Alas, one millennium doesn't make climate, nor will an eternity. It's where we decide to plot our data lines. As long as we can call cooling,( warming) ...Why would it ever be question?
