Since when is it okay for a teenage boy to have s*x but not a teenage girl?

So anyways, I was answering this question "How would you feel if your teenager had s*x". I noticed a lot of the answers said something like this

"If it was my son it would be okay but if it was my daughter I would fly off the handle!"

:I dont get why it's okay for a teenage guy to have s*x but not a girl?? WTH, i mean I know girls get reputations as s***s and whores but so do guys. All the guys at my school who have had s*x already are considered "Perverts", "Jerks", "Players", and "Kind-of-guy-you-dont-wanna-be-involved-... Someone care to explain this to my adolescent brain? :P

i totally agree. Everyone even women get upset, but have no problem with the guys. I mean we are both humans so what a girl does wrong a guy does too.

I will keep it simple - America is a world of DOUBLE STANDARDS. More importantly, America is a place of man-rule (patriarchy); meaning men on top, women on bottom. So, men typically can do things that women cannot do. A man who is strong is said to be brillant, while a woman (remember Hillary) is said to be a b*tch. Remember? You know that. Think about school - the girl who speaks her mind and is smart is not as well-liked as the guy who is the same. Women have a 2nd status role in America, as well as blacks and other minorities. What are you are experiencing is simply life. Just life. Remember when HIlary said she poked 18 million holes into the glass ceiling. There has been a ceiling (a limit) to how far women could go in this world. It's being broken daily, but its there.

Also, our culture tells boys that to become men, they must conquer alot of women. You've heard of people say 'sow your wild oats'. Well, boys are expected to have s*x. Long ago, men were thought to be g*y if they were high sexual and had lots of conquests, while women who did that are whores. It's a double standard.

This double standard is deeply rooted in our culture. It's slowly changing but its still there. And since most of our parents (I'm 36, my parents are 70) were raised in that old generation of people who judged a man by his sexual activity, then they think its okay. They still believe that the man's role is to hunt - that's hunt for food, hunt for s*x, just hunt. You've heard of 'men on the prowl'. Even our vocabulary in our culture promotes this "hunt" nature for a man. While women are expect to stay home and be nurturers and keep themselves clean and pure for marriage, etc.

So, you just better keep your legs closed because as much as the world says it doesn't judge, it does! As much as boys say 'Oh, tell me how many guys you've been with, its no big deal', well it is! A woman w***e is always looked down on, while a man w***e is just patted on the back 'good job!' 'good boy'. It's not you, it's just the society.

My dad would kill me if i had s*x, and he found out about it. And i don't have a sister, but if he caught even my best friend-who's-a-girl having s*x, he would kill her too. Or at least put her in the hospital. So i think alot of parents, at least the responsible ones, won't let either their sons or daughters have s*x.

with a son, you only have to worry about one d**k.

with a daughter, you have to worry about the 6 billion in the world.

Its rather complicated, but guys are supposed to have s*x, females are supposed to be the compassionate ones, who keep with one or two men in their lifetime.

Because the girls can get pregnant.  Also I think parents are especially protective of their daughters, I don't know exactly why though.

parents of guys- "oh look at my little boy, he is so responsible and grown up. yess i SO trust him with a girl. he would NeVeR pull anything like that."

parents think that girls have a low self esteem. and any thing nice said to them would be love. (which is wrong, does any parent have any faith in their girls????)

parents also think that they raised their precious little boys to perfect gentlemen. any guy can put on a show for mom and dad, and then in bed. ITS WRONG.

eh, there this double standard thing going around.

mostly because if something happens, the guy isn't going to be the one carrying a developing child in them for nine months. if theyhave chlamydia they wouldn't even know, i believe that the symptoms are only noticeable on a female body..

my best friend's little brother had s*x in 7th grade (yep.. 7th grade..ugh) and his girlfriend is now known as a s**t, but nobody cared if he did it. it made me sick.
